In Judaism and/or christianity, is the high priest an object, or idol, of worship?

Not in Christianity.

Hebrews 3:1
[ Jesus Greater Than Moses ] Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.

Hebrews 4:14
[ Jesus the Great High Priest ] Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.

Hebrews 6:20
where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

I thought this was in reference to an earthly office of High Priest. I am well aware that Jesus is the eternal High Priest of Christianity.

Jesus said that he came to serve and not to be served, so I don't think that Jesus should be worshiped unless it is put in trinitarian terms.

Melchizedek was the High Priest of God Most High forever too.

Do you worship him too?

Hi,
What does being the Son of God mean?

one that is conceived of god, offspring, child,

everyone born of the Spirit would be considered a child of god, or son of god.

John 3:6
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 3:8
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

This would mean he was divine like the Father.

This would be the same understanding First Century Jews had. One who was pious, God fearing would be called a 'Son of God'.

I wonder which category David1967 places Jesus pbuh under.

The traditional belief is that all Jewish men are "sons of God". That which is more messianic in nature is "Son of Man", which differentiates the messiah from other men.
