Evolution and design both exist and are essentially inseparable.
New models of species are not individually designed similarly, but we are capable of designing a program similar to evolution.
An intelligent designer would at least eventually see the advantage of leaving much of the work to an automated process.
The bible does describe direct creation of species before direct creation of Adam, but it is more correctly described as re-creation after the earth "had become" waste and ruin.
It does not state that the earth was created 6,000 years ago -nor does it state that the species created just before -or even including - Adam were not based on previously-existing species.
It does not state how quickly the earth -which the bible does describe as existing long before in other places -became waste and ruin -or even to what extent. It does not state that it was completely devoid of life -even what science would describe as "human" life.
Adam is described as the first man in biblical terms -not scientific terms.
Eve is described as the mother of all the living -as Adam and Eve were the first to potentially gain eternal life.
