Am I wrong? The statue of Jesus ruins Brazil

How is this a nonsense theory? Jesus himself didn't call himself God and didn't consider himself God.
Be that as it may, the nonsensical part of your "theory" was that a statue was having a magical effect upon Brazilian society. Crime is caused by poverty, substandard education, political instability, etc. If you want to blame religion for people's behavior, let's take a look at ISIS.

If all non-Islamic beliefs are a lie, and having such "lies" endemic in society is problematic, why is it that so many non-Islamic countries are so prosperous?
You are asking the wrong question and having miss understanding.

That's a religious discussion, not one which relates to the social status of Brazil and how statues might impact it.

For a Christian, Jesus is God, for a Muslim, Jesus is not God.
Not all Christians believe that Jesus is GOD.

Yes, it might not be the direct problem. But, how can it not be the in-direct problem? If this idea that Jesus is God is a lie, then it will breed through entire nation. If the foundation is a lie, then the bigger the nation grows, the more likely it will collapse.
While it is obvious that you strongly believe that Jesus is not god, a considerable number of Christians disagree with you, therefore your objections are moot.

Not all Christians believe that Jesus is GOD.
However the vast majority do, or at least consider him the "Son of God". Again, it really doesn't matter what Muslims think about this, it's not as if Islamic society is superior in any way.

So about 70% of people don't believe that is he God, Right? And, you are probably one of them.
70 of christian as well don't believe that he is GOD....
Mark 12:30
The Greatest Commandment
…29 Jesus replied, “This is the most important: ‘Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is One Lord, 30 and you shall love the Lord your Godwith all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind andwith all your strength.’ 31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

By proclaiming that Jesus is God can be considered as defamation, because Jesus himself didn't call himself God and didn't consider himself God, and none of his disciples had any inkling at all that he was God.

Idea like this can ruin the society, it can spoil the society and corrupt the society, within. If the idea is corrupt, then how can it not corrupt the nation? The statue of Jesus represents Brazil. It is the face of Brazil. What kind of face is it? Is it a legitimate face or a corrupt face? Well, Brazil is known for corruption, anyways. One of the most criminal societies out there. Yes, we can blame it on the hot weather and low income, but if this is a corrupt idea then it will only boil the corruption, within. It will make the hot society hotter, and the low income lower.

I believe if Brazil were to take down the statue, things will only get better from there.

I'm not sure if a statue has much to do with the situation, but I was checking into some of the tallest statues. (List of tallest statues - Wikipedia)

It appears that the tallest statues are of Buddha. The statue representing Mother Russia is also quite tall at 85m, and it's still more than twice as tall as the tallest statue of Jesus, which happens to be in Indonesia. There are also tall statues of Jesus in Mexico, Bolivia, and Poland - in addition to Brazil.

Looking over that list, there are a lot of statues of Buddha, and they're much taller than even the tallest statues of Jesus. So, maybe it's not the statue of Jesus itself, but just that there aren't enough tall statues of Jesus and they're also not big enough. The Christians are seriously lagging behind the Buddhists in the whole statue race.

If you would care to try and shed some light on what you see as being the right question, rather than simply asserting my ignorance?

I would be very surprised if this is true. Do you have any data on this?

Mainline Protestants, Anglicans, Oriental Orthodoxy adherents, Eastern Orthodoxy adherents, Catholics and most Evangelical Protestants believe in Christ's divinity. That's like 95% of Christians right there.

Well, Brazil is known for corruption, anyways. One of the most criminal societies out there. Yes, we can blame it on the hot weather and low income, but if this is a corrupt idea then it will only boil the corruption, within. It will make the hot society hotter, and the low income lower.

Perhaps it is not the statue but the letter Z.

Brazil has the letter z and lots of corruption. Zimbabwe is also known for its corruption. Zaire was known for corruption but since it changed its name to DR Congo it is now best known for civil wars (unfortunately naming your country after jobs causes wars).

Finland on the other hand has no Z and minimal corruption, the same is true for Norway and Holland.

If Brazil changed its name to 'Giant Jesus Statue-land' I'd imagine most of their problems would be gone before the year is out.

This explains why all the arab governments that are located in hot deserts are all corrupt.

I'm sure your reasoning makes sense to you and that you find the presence of a large idol that happens to also be a prophet in Islam to be highly upsetting. However, Jesus, "real" or in idol form, is never an excuse for another person's behavior. Brazil's problems are 100% on the people of Brazil. Each and every one of those individuals, some good, some not so much, the overwhelming majority of them somewhere in between (just like every other person on the planet), are both represented by and represent Brazil. THEY, in all their varied behaviors, are both to blame and to credit for Brazil.

In other words - no, a statue cannot take the blame for the behavior of any person, no matter what you may personally think of the statue. Every human being is responsible for their own behavior at all times. Full stop.

I don't think Jesus was God, or at least the God from the OT. I do think he was in line of King David and he was deified later. He wouldn't be the first to be deified and probably won't be the last.

But there's other statues in other countries than just Brazil. The Statue itself is not causing problems. Taking it away or leaving it there will not change the corruption. Brazilians starting a revolution and replacing it with a better system and with better people will get rid of it.

Imagine if Dubai were to erect a statue of Muhammad. The corruption would spread, and it would probably start from the top.

Brazil’s President caught on tape greenlighting bribes to former House Speaker, says newspaper

Sorry, but your question is a little bit non-sense.

Brazil has 207 million inhabitants and a history of 500 years. Rio is one city with less than 5% of Braziliian population - it's not the capital neither the biggest city - where one statue of Jesus was put in the beggining of XX century. Brazil has more than 5000 cities and more than 20 thousand catholic churces, and in each of those churches there are many statues of Jesus, just as in any other historically catholic country. So, it would make more sense to believe that any catholic country would be cursed by that.

In the last 15 years Brazil had more progress than almost any country in the world. The coup-d'etat happened only in 2016, stopping 13 years of continuous progress, and, only one year from it, we don't know yet if it will succeed in ruining Brazil.

The attacks to Brazil, however, consist in dangerous situations that can affect all democracies in the world. Judges, prosecutors and the police, together with media groups deciding to create a political chaos attacking the old corruption schemes that always runned in the country - until now, with the total acquiescence of them. This made in a very selective way in order to take out certain non-desired political groups and benefit others.

In all the places of the world there are obscure circumstances between political parties and multibillionaires. The "financial paradises" is an issue to all countries in the world. Panama papers scandal is synchronic with the coup in Brazil, it resulted in the fall of 2 presidents, but China, Russia and the UK had the responsibility to not fall into it (even when involving the father of UK prime minister... beaware that a scandal of this magnitud never happened in Brazil - and yet, UK definitely took a better choice about it)

People should be aware that those questions must be solved with clear and transparent political reforms, in other terms, democracy problems must be solved democratically, by people and their votes, and not by police, not with chaos and political persecution. Brazil's case is a warning to the world.

In our own language ( portuguese ), it is written 'Brasil' with the letter 's'.
Oh, now I see it ! it is America's fault at the end of the day! I knew it! You breed corruption in my country by changing its name !
