Non-Christians. Why do you care so much about Christians and Christianity?

good question!!!
(quote)

Hi Lyndon
Just an observation on your post--- The Bible says 'God is a Spirit'. Spirits have no gender, nor do they mate.
Humans were created with the power of procreation, for the purpose of populating the earth.
Angels were all created individually, long before the planet earth was created. They do not procreate. Which is why the demons are so fixated on sex among mankind, I.E. the 'materialized angels' in the days of Noah.

(as to your comment about your desire for God to be more feminine than masculine)

take care

Once again Christians come into a thread and treat Atheism as a religion because they can't think outside the context of a religion. They can't grasp the absence of religious thought.

There is biblical support for slavery.

There is no Atheism "holy book" or set of written rules. It is simply the absence of belief in a deity. Thus it isn't an institution and people can self-identify as Atheist while holding completely separate views on everything else.

You cannot be Christian and then disown any part of the bible you don't happen to like or agree with. You own the whole book.
Yes, we own the book but we interpreted it correctly. :D

I mean that if you want to argue that the Bible isn't the hodge-podge of many different authors' ideas that it appears to be, you're welcome to make your case. Just be prepared to back it up.

.
In the beginning and in the ending, there is no slavery, no poverty, no sickness and perfect union.

In the middle we have Jesus who said "I have made Your Name known to them and revealed Your character and Your very Self, and I will continue to make [You] known, that the love which You have bestowed upon Me may be in them [felt in their hearts] and that I [Myself] may be in them." AMP

He went about doing good and healing everybody. The only people he had problems with were the religious people who had misinterpreted and misrepresented God (it still goes on today -- admittedly).

Whereas some Christians today would say "You are evil doing wrong" - he went and ate with them.
Whereas some Christians today would say "You are not good enough" - Jesus accepted the prostitutes, the lepers and the lost.

So, since Jesus perfectly revealed the character of God, I view everything through the lens of love.

It's this type of love that cause the Moravians to sell themselves into slavery to reach slaves. It is this type of love that causes a member of a violent motorcycle to turn around and reach the native Indians of Iowa. And so much more.

We just interpret things differently.

I will ask the same question, Ruach Elohim asks, "How long, O ye naive ones, will ye love ignorance? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?"

Countless atheists in Russia and China supported genocide, two can play at this game.

Being an atheist does not prevent one from being an immoral person anymore than being a theist or deist or pantheist does. And this does not address my points, anyway.

Christians reject all none christian religions as false beliefs. So they are atheist to non-Christian beliefs. Atheist just went one more belief further than Christians, that is reject Christianity as well. Atheist rejects all religions as false and are invented by some smart humans as some time in history and are still being invented as in Jehovah Witnesses, Christian Science, Church of Jesus Christ Scientist, LDS-Mormonism, Scientology, Easter Island's Moaism, Cargo Cult of Melanesia, etc. They are all misguided delusional frauds and scums. If Christians can demonstrate with sufficient evidence that humans have a soul and that it survive after death. If not you can simply throw your belief of afterlife , heaven and hell away in the trash can.

I include a link to a list of new religions for your perusal. Enjoy searching for the truth for the truth shall set you free. As you can see hundreds of new religions are being invented all over the world as we speak growing like mushrooms. Shalom.

Yes, we own the book but we interpreted it correctly. :D

Who interpreted it correctly? Did you mean to say incorrectly? Can an omniscient god not write plainly enough that it is not left up to individual interpretation? And who is the "we" that "owns" the Bible? i think it is in the public domain.....

You mean this heading:

Non-Christians. Why do you care so much about Christians and Christianity?

or do you mean this post???

So much so that you spend hours here debating and arguing with them post after post after post.

(And yes, I realize that I do it myself and that people might expect my answer, but rather than possibly influencing the answers of others I'm going to wait with mine. :p )

I'm on a tablet, so maybe I'm not seeing something???

For the same reason that I care about global warming, terrorism, and so on. Religion is a blight.

The smiley face was there for a reason, although there are people who definitely have bias and interpreted it accordingly. Certainly, with study, I have changed some of my thinking and viewpoints.

But as far as writing plain enough... why do so many, as humans, make something that is so plain so difficult to understand?

For an example in John 3:16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.

That is pretty much black and white. Why do so many people, including Christians, talk about God "judging the world's evils" in this day and age when it clearly says otherwise?

Why do so many people fail to mention "God loves the world" when it is so clear?

We seem to complicate a simple message.

Religion is a great factor in most societies, Christians run into the billions on this planet. So why NOT be interested in what and how they happen to think? I think that it's rather VITAL. And it's also fascinating.

Personally, I am an atheist, so do not look to any holy book for guidance. I default to waiting for sufficient evidence for the existence of a god before I worry about his/her/it's thoughts.

There are lots of questions to be answered, and you are right........there is far too much twisting of words and selective acceptance of passages in the Bible (quote mining) to try and justify things that are obviously distasteful and/or immoral.

I appreciate your apparent clarity and thoughtfulness about your religion. It is, unfortunately, far too rare. I hope you continue to contribute to the discussion.
