A criticism for Pagans

So I'm sure some Christians here think Earth based and other folks only want to pick on them but no I have a criticism for my own faith. I'm Zen Buddhist UU and Pagan. This is a thing Ive wanted to say something about for awhile.

I've been told this by 3 different Pagans. say this to me and heard it said a few times on other forums to people and I'm embarrassed to see people make this statement its unbelievable.

So I read half the Twilight book and I liked the first Twilight movie. So Ok Pagans and others say its junk, I have no issues with that I think its fair for those to criticize my taste on that. twilight, maybe just junka s everyone says,I don't personally read or watch movies with the expectation of a good movie or intelligent writing sometimes I watch stuff for the fun of it.

I like the music. the scenery is cool, the scenes, the hot sexy guy who plays Jake.( I'm like OMG are you kidding me she fell for Edward? Hes not even half as hot as Jacob OMG) the idea of a Vampire falling in love with a human its fun ok.

So when I get criticism about how unintelligent it is stupid I'm fine and dandy with that that's fine, I let it roll off my back.

Before I put the criticism up let me just say I know Pagans some of us believe in real Vampires. I actually think I have some PSi Vampire in me ,I don't know what I think about folks who actually drink blood except to say I think drinking human blood is wrong because it makes you sick.

2 different Pagans 2 count them 2 ,it must be a popular thing for Pagans who believe in real Vampires to say to Twilight fans they said this to me:

So here goes" You know Elizabeth there is such a thing as real Vampires, do you know that real Vampires don't twinkle like Edward and have fangs and have supernatural powers like Edward that they don't eat people and fly and all that you do know Twilights not real right?

OMG OMG I cant believe it first place I am not an 8 year old, I'm 50 years old its like they're talking to a child. But I honestly think Because I've seen this confrontment with other people that they actually believe that, they believe that people believe in supernatural beings called vampires like Buffy The Vampire Slayer are real.

What on Gods freaking green earth would make you think such a ridiculous thing.
There is no such thing as that unless your talking about a child, now if your talking to a 10 year old I might understand , but a grown adult OMG, unless theyre psychotic and don't know the difference between fantasy and reality and maybe burned out on a bunch of drugs. WTHELL?

SO that's my confrontment anyways I figure someone might want to dump on twilight again go ahead I'm ready LOL?

How is critizing what a couple of pagans think about a movie a criticism of paganism as a whole?

Also I used to believe that I was a psychic vampire and used to be a pagan. So I get where you are coming from.

I did hear it was a tribe in the movie but I didn't read the book all the way through seeing that he looked like a wolf sorry I'm calling him a wolf. I have no idea what shapeshifters are and they look like wolves so I'm calling him a wolf and they scratch and bite like wolves too.

Shapeshifters are indigenous American "creatures" that are essentially werewolves, but not cursed or bloodthirsty monsters. They can merely take the form of a wolf, rather than having a forced transformation into a man-like wolf creature.

Wolf =/= Werewolf

Shapeshifters are indigenous American "creatures" that are essentially werewolves, but not cursed or bloodthirsty monsters. They can merely take the form of a wolf, rather than having a forced transformation into a man-like wolf creature.

In the lore there where Spirit Warriors that could exit their bodies as spirits. Eventually one spirit warrior possessed the chief while he was outside of his body and took his place. So the chief bonded with a wolf and took him as his body. When he confronted the imposter the wolf body could not handle the human emotions he was having and thus changed into a man. After taking his place back he decreeded that there would be no more spirit warriors in order to stop that from happening again. The chief's male descendants became the shapeshifters. The only known excepton to this is an infertile female.

Many Pagans believe in real vampires and get too caught up in the fluffy drama of silly stuff like making fun of vampire movies. Its just ridiculous. I think its just a sign that some people take their beliefs in vampirism too seriously.

I can't say I've ever observed that in the community. Even if I had, I don't see what it has to do with Paganism, specifically. Vampire fandom and fantasy extends well beyond the Pagan community, and I'm not aware of any Pagan tradition that incorporates vampire fandom into its religious creeds, doctrines, or practices. In short, I don't understand why you are pointing the finger at Pagans instead of simply "people who believe in real vampires and get too caught up in yada yada yada."

Seems no crazier than any other supernatural belief. Folks have the ability to believe in God, Allah any number of pagan deities why not vampires. It all has equal validity to me, which is to say none, if a person chooses to believe in one of these things, that's up to them. If someone chooses to believe in Voodoo or magic it's fine with me as long as they don't expect any credibility from me without evidence to back them up.
