Well, just speaking for myself there's some truth to that: whenever we decide to poll the membership or otherwise involve you guys in whatever changes we're thinking about making, I always give a lot more weight to the input and ideas from established members, ie., people who have been here long enough and been active enough to have earned a say in how things are going to be done.

Aside from that, for some reason it seems that whenever we try something like this, it's almost always new people --- people with a handful or posts and who've only been here for a few weeks -- who go right to lighting the torches and passing out the pitchforks.

My request to join the Amish DIR to talk to my alter ego there has been on hold for at least ten minutes. I believe all other members' complaints and suggestions are worth less time than mine. This delay is inexcusable to me.

In future changes would it be possible to have optional DIR notifications? For instance, my DIRs can be rather infrequent, it would be cool to have a little alert when there's a new thread. Just a thought!
