A Challenge to the Theist and Atheist

Segev Moran

Well-Known Member
Many times, Theist blame me for not understanding God.
I would love having a challenge.
Lets switch roles!

I will debate pro God, and you will debate Against.

I Assume one of two will be then clear:

1. Either I really am ignorant for anything relates to spirituality (Thus I will not be able to make my case)
2. I will successfully make my case and at least show that some atheist, know the spiritual "realm" better than you think.

I will however, probably be leaning more towards the Jewish God, as this is the Religion I was born into.

Cheers :)

Excellent challenge. Everyone should have to issue such a challenge on any belief s/he holds.

This will not be my one and only challenge to you to justify your theistic belief. It's just the first idea off the top of my head: Everything that is real is discoverable by the scientific method. And the theistic God is beyond discovery by the scientific method. So justify your theistic belief. (BTW: I use the term "theistic belief" so as to distinguish it from pantheism. et al.)

No need to switch role. dear Segev.

I will reason from intelligence and observation to the existence of God, and you on your part see what or how you come to your conviction of there being no God.

First, of course we have to get linked up, with concurring on the concept of God, because when we don't concur on the concept of God, we will be acting illogically, with talking about a thing with deferent idea of what it is.

What do you say, do you have a concept of God?

Here is my concept of God:

"God in concept is first and foremost the creator and operator of the universe and man and everything with a beginning."

Take careful attention, what I present is a concept, not a proof of God existing.

From my experience with atheists, they regularly get all worked up with insisting that I am already into the prejudgment that God exists, with proposing my idea of what is God.

So, I ask them, if you propose a concept of Bigfoot before you go forth to seek evidence of his existence, is that already a prejudgment that Bigfoot exists?

That is always the illogical phobia or in effect taboo of atheists, mistaking a concept for a prejudgment.

What you should do, dear atheists, is to examine the concept to see whether it is a valid concept or not; but sad to say, you atheists are not cognizant of such an intellectual subtlety, that is why you are ever into very shallow water when you argue against God existing.

This is not in the spirit of the thread, which is a call for devil's advocacy, the healthy ability to cultivate arguments outside your worldview to facilitate understanding the other party better, and giving fair trial to their arguments. Your post as is fails the challenge.

Just out of curiosity, your native language is what?

I don't have what you might call a native language, except perhaps Pilipino, for I stayed abroad for some good years, away from the Philippines, and in the Philippines itself there are three official languages, and quite a number of dialects of which three are predominant.

The three official languages are Pilipino, English, and Spanish, but Pilipino is Tagalog, one of the three predominant dialects,

Now, if your point is that my English is not up to par with yours, well that is your opinion.

Okay, I will play the evil's advocate, there is no evidence for God exsting, period.

Please, author of this thread and all full-blooded atheists, play the theist's role, and rebut my argument, that there is no evidence for God existing.

Dear ADigitalArtist, don’t be playing coy, take care you don’t follow any spirit, it could be a useless spirit of inanity and vacuity.

Play it anyway you care, be it theist or atheist, still keep in mind that as we are all rational, and thus logical we must start from a mutually worked out concurred on concept of God; otherwise we are conducting ourselves as irrational entities, whereas in reality we do have a faculty of reason, and observation, and intelligent conclusion on an issue.

So, there, stop playing nonsense, get to your concept of God, and start from there, be you theist or atheist.

Besides, if you atheists insist that I play the atheists' role, then here it is in two statements which sum up all the atheists' socalled explanation why they take up with calling themselves atheists:

1. We [you] atheists don't have to prove anything at all, because we [you] do not make any positive claim unlike theists.
2. It is impossible to prove a negative statement.

There, that is the ridiculous fact with atheists' socalled argument if it be any argument at all; of course it is not, but it serves for a cover by which atheists feel themselves so smug, yet actually it is loaded with nothing but inanity and vacuity in aid of flight from reason and observation and intelligent conclusion on an issue.

Cut it out with the 'smug, inane vacuous atheist' routine. Focus on participating without belittling other viewpoints or don't participate at all.

I agree, there is no evidence (at least not evidence in the sense of verifiable physical empirical evidence.) That doesn't mean there's no good reason to believe in a god, just not one whose actions can result in verifiable, physical, empirical evidence. That leaves a plethora of gods that could exist, especially deistic gods, or gods of a more pantheistic nature.
Also, due to there being no shared experience, there might even be some physical, empirical evidence someone has that there is a god or gods, but I cannot experience it (thus not verifiable.) It won't be a very convincing argument to those looking for the verifiable part of the equation, but it could verywell validate their beliefs.

Lastly, looking for verifiable, physical, empirical evidence to many theists would be missing the point. As you're supposed to take it on faith. Trying to make faith unnecessary is devaluing faith.

Your turn. Rebut from an atheistic point of view.

Dear Jay, you are now the theist and I the atheist, this can be confusing because atheists are to the core without logic and system, whatsoever.

As a theist with you Jay, you are correct to ask me for what is evidence, because I playing the atheist's role state that there is no evidence for God.

Now, playing again the atheist's with his lack of logic and system whatsoever, as per my experience with them in the internet, here is my answer to you, as playing the atheist's role:

If you theist do not know what is evidence, please go away, you don't belong here in a forum, period.

Dear readers, let us sit back and observe how Jay will now play the theist's role.

I tell you, readers here, if you have ever tried to talk reason with atheists in the internet, you will notice that they are more up to all manners of flippancy and evasion, than into sincere good faith honest logical and systematic exchange of thoughts, on reason and observation and intelligent conclusion on the issue at hand.

Define 'evidence.'
