Why Don't Humans Have Human Milk After A Certain Age?

Why take it from a cow or goat or sheep instead? Why not continue with human female milk? No-one has to suffer, no other babies need be born (as with cows and other creatures, who stop lactating after about a year) and it's meant for humans.

I've read that dairy cows are well pampered and cared for because otherwise stress would have a negative impact on milk quality.
As for using human milk, aside from the cultural 'ick' factor I imagine there would be difficulty in both cost and availability.
Personally, I prefer soy, almond, or rice milk.
You heard wrong. They are tortured and miserable animals. It upsets me a lot which is why I can't really contain myself in these threads.

I have soy or coconut milk, sometimes almond but I'm not struck on almond so much.

None of the abused animals are. So yes, why don't you take me, rape me, impregnate me, take my child away then milk me? At least you'd need only do it once. With cows it's over and over again.

?

Why only once?

While I agree with the use of dairy alternatives, all of those taste utterly disgusting - but then I've only tried them in their original flavour.

Because a human female will only stop lactating when she needs to. She can go for years after only one child. A cow auto stops producing milk after a year so must be raped and impregnated again, have her calf taken away to be sold for veal if a male, or raised as another dairy cow if female, so we can have a product we don't need.

I too have been to a few dairy farms. The cows don't seem to miserable, at least on smaller farms. Never seen any large farms.

You need to visit an industrial farm. My dad worked on an indoor pig unit which I visited a few times. Not fun at all and frankly very depressing.

Yeah, I don't care for industrial farming. I blame masonic conspiracies for those, destroying the family farms.

I got stuff out of the supermarket. It might also have something to do with the fact that I eat a lot of sweet things so the difference is more extreme to my taste buds.
I never really 'taste' it so to speak as the only time I use soyamilk or any plant milk is on cereal. I don't drink it from a glass or put it in hot beverages. But never ever buy cheap soyamilk. That stuff is crap, I'll grant you.

Actually no I've not tried that before.

It could be a matter of adjustment too. After a while taste buds adapt. I started out having soy milk over 10 years ago, had the flavoured versions, vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. They tasted like milkshakes, was good. But eventually I went to having plain ones and it seemed fine. Maybe after a while of having more sweet and flavoured ones you could try out the plain stuff (though don't go unsweetened yet).

Also one of my favourites at the moment is cashew milk. It's sweet and super creamy! Oh and I have a sweet tooth too.

Humans produce little milk, it's thin and fat poor, and humans are unlikely to acquiesce to being milked twice a day. Nor would I expect the repeated cycles of pregnancy and birth to attract many job applicants.

Given the life of beef vs dairy cattle, beef cattle seem to have it better, but they both end up on the supermarket shelves after a few years.

I'm not sure other animals appreciate it either. Maybe we just shouldn't drink animal milk :)
