2nd Jewish Cemetery Desecrated In Less Than A Week

The only heartening aspect is that in both instances the local Muslim communities have stepped forward to offer assistance.
And it has worked both ways as a synagogue in Texas has offered the use of its facilities to the congregation from a mosque that was burned down about three weeks ago.

With the recent wave of bomb threats and desecration of Jewish cemeteries, I'm left with a question I've often asked but never understood. What are the reasons for Antisemitism? Do you think any of it is jealousy over the fact that in Scripture they were "The Chosen People"? The fact that some Jews were opposed to Christ 2000 years ago is a pathetic reason to despise them today.

Anyhow, I don't think Jews have done anything to warrant the silly things I've heard like "Jews are trying to take over the world". I'm just confused about where such ideas come from.

All people of good will need to stand together and oppose the alt-right supremacist regime now in power. Fellow Jews on this forum will understand what is meant by NEVER AGAIN.

Most people, such as myself, would consider some legal form of retribution against such actions. You know: cameras that track automatically and spray invaders with stinky ink and other sneaky stuff. It might be worth doing. (I hope this is not disrespectful.) It just seems like there ought to be some kind of (legal) retribution.

Any concerns where you teach?

I know some faculty members at one of the schools. They were pretty rattled.
I was thinking to myself that it is interesting -- JCC's but not schools have been (thus far) called. All quiet on our front.

Coming on the heels of wave of bomb threats against Jewish Community Centers across the US, the desecration of Jewish cemeteries in the St. Louis and Philadelphia areas is disheartening and gives one serious pause.

The only heartening aspect is that in both instances the local Muslim communities have stepped forward to offer assistance.
Demonstrating -- sadly, but perhaps hopefully -- what I think that you I and both understand: whatever their faiths (or lack thereof), there are some bad people, and more good ones. This is something that I have actually and truly believed for most my life (and as I think you know, I had some reason for doubt).

Those Muslims that have stepped forward to help (as have Jews in Israel stepped forward to help Palestinians) demonstrate how they see themselves in terms of "community." My "community" includes more than just atheists, gay people, men, white guys (with a little mix of Mohawk).

Sadly, it's my feeling that the "populist" politics of todays, all around the world, is making us all fearful, and as Franklin said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither." Yet, the Donald Trumps, the Marine Le Penns, the Geert Wilders and too many others of the world are trying to take us all there. And that suggests to me that it won't be getting better for quite some time.

That both saddens me, and possibly makes me feel a little glad that I'm old enough that I might miss some of the worst of it. May your great grandchildren inherit better.

Was that before or after obama stabbed Israel in the back in the UN?

Democrats absent from House GOP resolution denouncing U.N.’s anti-Israel vote
It's no secret that Obama and Bibi don't get along, and it's no secret that Obama's presidency was by no means the first to criticize Israel because of settlements and to reflect that discontent in abstaining in a U.N. vote. The vote really didn't change anything except to hype up the right wing here and with many in Israel. It has no power of enforcement in reality, so Israel will ignore it. Even Trump has shown some discontent with the settlement expansions that are planned, so do you think he's ignorant and anti-Israel as well?

But I noticed that you claimed Obama to be ignorant while not providing your educational background as asked.

Are you saying Jewish cemeteries were not vandalized while Obama was in office? If so, you are either from another planet or been in a coma for the last five to ten years.

The vandalism occurred just days before Tuesday night's start of Yom Kippur

In March of 2012 I was in the county jail waiting for a trail for failure to pay child support. I was there only for a few days. During my stay two prisoners were brought in and were treated differently than the rest of us. They were put under protective custody. They were not allowed to come in contact with the rest of the jail population. The jail is set up with about 10 pods. Each pod has about 100 prisoners. Each pod has about 50 jail cells with 2 prisoners per cell. The pods have a common area with tables and TVs. The common area is used for meals and socializing. Each pod also has a fenced in outside area used for exercising. Whenever it was meal time for the 2 new prisoners the rest of the pod was locked down. We were in our cells and the door was locked. This would prevent us from having any access with these 2 new prisoners. Each day for an hour or two these 2 new prisoners would go outside for exercise. Again, the rest of us would be locked down. None of us knew why these men were in protective custody. This sort of treatment is usually done for rapists, child molesters, mass murders and very high profile organized crime. This sort of treatment is done so the rest of the population doesn’t tear them apart like a pack of wild dogs. It wasn’t until I got out of jail and read the newspaper, I realized who they were. They were home grown terrorists that didn’t like Jews. Rosends should be familiar with the story about these terrorists. I used to live in the same town as him and he is Jewish.

bla bla bla

What in the HELL are you talking about?

I never claimed he was ignorant, and no one asked me for my education or I'd have reported them under forum rule #1.

I'm just gonna stick you in my ignore list now.

For the rest of you, listen up.

These recent anti-Semitic acts are happening BECAUSE we now have a pro-Israel POTUS.

It's backlash.

It's a shame that this thread had turned into a petty squabble over Obama.

The real issue is that a Jewish Cemetery has been desecrated. Again.

Nothing happens in a vacuum, it's best to understand why.

Anti-Semites are furious, is why.

Well it didn't happen under Obama, so no, it probably wouldn't have happened under Hillary.
Clearly, every evil event since Trump came upon the scene is his fault.
And all the prophesized woe he portends will surely come to pass.
If only Hillary's destiny weren't scuttled by this abominable interloper,
we'd have paradise on Earth. Strong your faith is.
