New Poll: Majority of Europeans Polled in Ten Countries Would Support a Trump-Style Ban

According to a recent poll, a majority of Europeans polled in a total of ten countries would support a ban on immigration from Muslim-majority countries similar to the ban issued by Trump:

From the article said:
A majority of Europeans would support a Trump-style ban on further migration from mainly Muslim countries, according to a poll of more than 10,000 people in 10 countries.

An average of 55 percent of those surveyed for London-based think tank, Chatham House, agreed that immigration from Muslim-majority countries should be halted.

The poll released Tuesday comes after a bruising 18 months that have seen a string of terrorist massacres linked to radical Islam as well as record-setting levels of migration that have created social tensions across the continent.

Majorities in all but two of the 10 countries polled supported a ban, ranging from 71 percent in Poland, to 53 percent in Germany, 47 percent in the United Kingdom and 41 percent in Spain. In no country did the percentage that disagreed surpass 32 percent.

To bad the majority of Europeans didn't vote to not invade Iraq and Afghanistan in the first place, then we might not be having this discussion.

I also think its a bit of a shame, a bit of a shame that we never had the luxury to choose the Muslim immigrants we want like the US and Canada have.

I wonder how my childhood would've been different.
Evidently Europe, which is a tiny continent with the highest population density in the world, is supposed to host an unspecified and limitless number of people.

Europe could take 30 million, I reckon. Although helping to repair the situations in West Africa, North Africa and West Asia are likely better ideas.

This is one of the most myopic and worn-out arguments thrown out by the regressive left to address this issue in a simplistic manner. No, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars aren't the only reason so many people from Muslim-majority countries want to immigrate to Europe or the U.S. You seem to be overlooking the corruption, economic instability, and decaying state of human rights in many Muslim-majority countries--and those problems far predate the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

The issue of immigration laws has a lot of nuances and ramifications that aren't going to be addressed through simplistic arguments like the one you mentioned.

Didn't help though. Not to disagree with the thrust of your points.

Ouch. I guess terrorism and widespread application of sharia has given Islam a pretty bad image in the West. I still think this is a bit of a shame.

The real shame is that terrorism and sharia law does not have a very bad image.

Are you really so naive to think terrorist will not try to get into America through the emigrantion system?

There are much easier ways to get into America than through immigrating! Most terrorism in the USA is homegrown anyway.

I don't see why there's such a focus on the USA though - for starters, this thread is about Europe.

Most of the terrorists in America were fighting for the Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Right, close our southern border. Something else the progressives fight against.

Most terrorism in the USA is homegrown anyway.

And tightening entering requirement will help keep it that way.

A poll just out shows 10 European countries agree with Trump on banning people from those countries.

Religion or fundamentalism have nothing to do with immigration, since the new massive immigration we are witnessing in Europe doesn't come from Arab countries. European countries' duty is to defend human rights and to host all those people who escape from war, like Syrian refugees. And to host people who immigrate legally. That is something manageable.

Tourist visas.

And tightening entering requirement will help keep it that way.

Well if it's like that as it is anyway, why is tightening required?

Oh yeah? Mine doesn't.

The wars definitely didn't help, but I think the argument that this issue might not even need to be discussed if it weren't for them is fundamentally incorrect. Let's not forget that the U.S. didn't invade Syria either.
