Jain Digambara (sky-clad) monks

That is renunciation, complete renunciation. The fans/brooms are to gently clean the ground before taking the next step, keeping in mind that one does not harm any living creature.

An honourable path to be sure. As we didn't have microscopes back in Mahavira's time, I wonder how they deal with the newer scientific knowledge about microbacteria. Do you know, Aup?

What can one do about what is unmanageable? However, some do not take medicines to kill the germs and worms. Rather than that, they would like to die. As I hold, Mahavira was a radical. There was no middle ground with him.

So what's going on here? A handful of sky-clad Jains and supporters obstruct traffic then walk to a temple, then leave?

With all due respects, since I represent the Jains in this forum.

I have to ask, why do you claim to represent jains in this forum?
you're not a jain, are you?
if I remember correctly, you mentioned that you're not a vegetarian, and isn't that a necessity for a jain?

I am not a jain. But I had my childhood and studies in Rajasthan. I know Jains and Jainism. My best friend is a Jain. I have highest respect for Lord Mahavira and Jainism, though it is not my way. And, unfortunately, there are no Jains visiting the forum. That is why I said I represent Jains here. Yes, I am not a vegetarian, though I accept the position in dharmic religions that vegetarianism is better than non-vegetarianism. My fault and short-coming. Vegetarianism is absolutely necessary in Jainism, actually they even avoid some vegetables.

In the first video, they are welcoming a honored monk, felicitation. I suppose he must have given a lecture about their religion.

In the second video, Jains are protesting against any possible government intereference in their tradition of 'Santhara' (willful acceptance of death by fasting).
