Does atheism entail any other scientific or philosophical position/perspective?

Is materialism required given atheism, for instance?

Secularism?

etc.

Do you have any thoughts on the relationship between atheism and other ideas?

Not really. I suppose it rules out Creationism and therefore hints of evolutionism, even if by default.

How do I tell if a person is a materialist?

Secularism?

There is a significant correlation, but no, there is no reason why an atheist must or should be a secularist.

etc.

There is not much of one. Mostly, it encourages the rejection of theocentric ideologies.

Really not a big deal.

No. It is just plain no belief and statement that no god(s) exist. People have different definitions of atheism. Unfortunately, confuses people.

Is it attached to what you mentioned? Generally, no. It depends on the person. I don't see science in a religious or irreligious light. What part of science I know and experience saved my life. God(s) and philosophy had nothing to do with it.

Atheism resulting from a rationalistic/skeptical perspective tends to go along with certain other rationalistic ideas, since atheism is merely one more conclusion resulting from such a perspective and method.

Of course, you can have atheism which isn't rooted in rationalism/skepticism, so such atheism wouldn't necessarily tend to correlate with other rationalistic ideas. I suppose it would tend to be connected to other ideas related to whatever that atheism was rooted in.

No, but it excludes some (i.e. the ones that rely on the premise that a god exists).

Is materialism required given atheism, for instance?
No.

Secularism?
No... though atheism tends to take away most justifications for theocratic government.

etc.

Do you have any thoughts on the relationship between atheism and other ideas?
I see atheism as more often the result of other ideas than as causing them.

Take skepticism: skepticism, consistently applied, results in atheism.

No, it does not entail any of this. But since it rules out creationism of any sort, it does point one in the direction of some of those. The only thing atheism actually describes is a lack of belief an any god or gods. So, I guess in response to the tag line, my response is, "no, just a carry-on".
