Trump bans government scientists from speaking out publicly

I think every one agrees the planet is getting rapidly hotter.
The evidence is scientifically overwhelming.
(Don't even try contradicting this as you will be shot down in factual flames.)

I cannot get over some of the navel gazing in here.
Whether it is NATURAL or MAN MADE, is as irrelevant as the poor Japanese man pondering the color of the large object just dropped from the Enola Gaye in August 1945.

So if you don't want your grandchildren inheriting a global desert, frying in their own fat, then you must ask the question,
Can we do something about it?
If so what?

Answer: There is a small time window currently of an opportunity where humans may be able to Influence our climate and slow the change.
Obviously reduce green house gases for a start. Increase the planet albedo etc etc.
ie that which has already been suggested and laid out at numerous international climate conferences.

The path is clear but the will is not.

Well, I have been trying my best all of my life of keeping a schedule on my bowel movements. But I never was able to keep a certain schedule. My bowels move when it wants to. And so, do you believe that scientist can make me a schedule?

Actually schedule will not help as you are trying to apply a human abstract on a parasymapathetic peristaltic smooth muscle system. So a different approach is scientifically needed. First you should really try to understand the physiology of the system you are dealing with rather than regarding the end dump as the bee all and end of it. It is actually a well regulated complex system.
During rest the gut is active. During active times the gut slows right down to allow full resources to brain and muscle.
Getting back to your schedule, there is actually a scientific method of making you as regular as clockwork. The neurochemical in the gut is Acetylcholine so if you sit on the toilet and inhale the scent from a packet of RYO smoking tobacco the small amount of nicotine vapor (an acetylcholine agonist) will trigger within minutes a peristaltic stimulus that should relieve you of your burden right on schedule.

Well, I like to get up and do a little of Calisthenics, And then have a little quiet time in the little men's room. Then afterward, I would like to jump into the shower. But going to the little men's room before I work out, it is not good. When I finish the dumpster, I like to wash off. Can science fix that problem?

And when planet X comes through, should science build us all a radiation proof bunker? But better yet, would it destroy the world? We better start figuring out a way to protect ourselves from planet X. Well, I have to go and get my Y2K survival kit from out of storage before it comes. I never had gotten rid of it because it had cost me a lots oey and I knew that somebody will come up with another environmental disaster. I better start practicing my hysteria look.

They must of have used a lots of aerosol cans back in those days, in order to cause the climate to change drastically. Them damn deodorant's companies!!!

According to Cayce, Atlantis—located from the Gulf of Mexico to Gibraltar—was destroyed in a final catastrophic event circa 10,000 B.C. The focus of A.R.E. efforts has been in the Bimini area, however, other related locations have also been investigated. Research on the so-called Bimini Road has been hampered as researchers are split on the origin of the structure: some believe it is a manmade road or foundation while others assert it is natural beach rock, which fractured in place. However, a seldom-discussed fact is that a portion of the Bimini Road was removed after a hurricane in 1926. You think aerosol cans are related to climate change? Everyone knows the climate on the earth changes in cycles over hundreds of thousands of years. This is normal. Do you know what the anomaly is today?

I believes

I believes that the earth is expanding. Like how we grow, the earth does it as well. Like what Plato has said about the time of the Atlanteans. That the plant life of those times were different from their vegetation. I believes that the earth was smaller at one time, and that there were no cold spots on the earth. That every part of the earth was warm, tropic. But as it expanded, some parts moved further away from the sun's rays which made those parts that were a tropical rain forest, into ice lands. Like a magnifying glass. The further the outer parts, the less rays that it gets. But position it in a certain spot, that it will burn. Like some says that the dark side of the moon is about minus one hundred degrees. And so the earth is growing, unless science is able to come up with a pill to stop the aging process of the earth.

Not true. The evidence is all around you, plenty of it right here on RF.
Not every one believes that the planet is rapidly growing hotter. Many people believe that climate change is a Chinese hoax. "Trump says" is quite enough evidence for so many people that he is now President of the United States.
(Don't even try contradicting this as you will be shot down in factual flames.)
This is now a country where alternative facts matter more than real facts. Stop being a sore loser and support your president!

Revelation all the time
A question for those who support this action by Trump. (@Kemosloby, @Acim )
First I want to say that I would oppose this action of silencing scientists regardless of who was doing it. I would oppose this if Barrack Obama tried to do it. I would oppose it if it were Hillary Clinton, or if it were Bernie Sanders. That does not matter.

So let me ask this. If you support this action, would you support it if Barrack Obama had silenced scientists?

From my perspective, Obama did do this, just not as publicly. It is one of many reasons why I see enormous bias from MSM. In many ways the media was part of the silencing that I routinely experienced in the last 3 years. Hence, why my first post in this thread says, "Given my understanding of modern American science, and the propaganda battles being waged, I rejoice at this news."

Again, this for me relates to eCigs/vaping. It's a topic I feel rather confident talking about and discussing. If science, and actual peer reviewed scientific reports are part of the discussion, I'm game. If it is articles by media about those reports, I likely have seen whatever will be brought to the table and probably saw it (in some other form) months, if not years, ago.

There's a rather visible political game being fought over eCigs that is manipulating (clearly manipulating) how science is 'said to work' among the masses. Prior to my getting into vaping, I was like many who thought the FDA was based in scientific fact, and only looking out for the consumer. I've since woken up and so seeing news (yesterday) where Trump will appoint new leader to FDA to streamline approval and lessen regulations is, for me, music to my ears.

And what about the next President? Do you want the next President to have this power? If the next President believes in Climate change and if there are scientists in the employ of the government who disagree, should that President silence them?

You are approaching this in generalized way and IMO, naively. Apart from my passion for politics around eCigs, I still have spiritual and philosophical basis for refuting your take. In some ways, I see this as what POTUS and members of Congress have been up to for, oh let's go with the beginning of the USA.

Sticking to the general, I think there's a rabbit hole here that you are inviting me to go down, and that I'd be very willing to go down, but I don't think you realize the doors that are being opened. We're currently in the politics area of the forum, so I choose to keep it general for now. But we can go and discuss in other parts of the forum what science is actually up to today and how political it has become. Or how politically manipulative it has become.

The path is clear but the will is not.

If it is "natural," then what possible difference could we make? How is that irrelevant to the discussion? If man is not the source of the problem (solely), then man obviously cannot be the source of the solution. Moreover, if this were something that is localized and only occurring in a small and specific region, I would think it plausible we could do something, even if it is "natural." But being global, it would take, as you note, the will of all, and in so doing would dramatically change life as we know it. So, the 'science' that has brought such wonderful things as the ability to use bigger and better machines to burn fossil fuels at an alarming rate, would also be the same place to look to for "solution?" How does that compute?

*I put natural in quotes, because I'm yet to observe anything man-made that is not inherently natural. But, I'm so used to the misnomer, that I just assume put the word in quotes and make this little side point, though do think this side point actually relates to framing of plausible/actual resolution.

If sticking strictly to politics and seeking political solutions, knowing how much cynicism and even realism exists, I think the will to change this has about as much chance as seeking a political solution to ending murders on the planet, starting today.

And do you approve of what Obama did? I see that you typed a lot of words in response to my question, but neglected to answer it.

I don't see how approve of it matters.

But to answer your question directly, because I lean Right, I would not approve of Obama doing it (since he's a Dem) but am accepting of it from Trump's perspective given my understanding of how science currently works in America.

Yet "accepting of it" and how it actually went down under Trump is the other debate that so far hasn't really occurred. Like all things LW media, we have to filter the BS reporting on the issue from what is more neutral perspective. Or we could look at it through the Right perspective.
