What is wrong with smashing the idols?

What is wrong with smashing the idols? I have smashed one and then trashed it, also I once throw the cross away. Have you ever smashed an idol?

Prophet Abraham once said to his father Azar: "Takest thou idols for gods? For I see thee and thy people in manifest error."

If you own them, nothing. If they are someone else's property, that is a problem.

So long as they're yours, you do what you will with them. If they aren't, and more importantly if they are ancient and historically significant, we're going to have a problem.

You're insulting the religion of others. Even though I'm not a Christian anymore, I won't damage or discard my crucifixes, rosaries, holy cards, etc. out of respect for the holy objects of another religion. Just like I washed my hands and pronounced "Bismillah" before touching a Qur'an.

It's the difference between a totalitarian mindset and a pluralistic mindset; showing respect for others or disrespecting them.

Whatever that is wrong or right about burning Qurans... also an idol after all.

Nothing.

What's wrong with Smashing Pumpkins? Their music is overrated.

When Prophet Muhammad finally conquered Mecca in 631 AD, he allegedly entered the Ka'ba and destroyed the 360 idols in its precincts shouting
"Falsehood is destroyed, truth prevails".

It is hard not to read this without smiling. You are doing a great service to the world by smashing the idols.

But there are still more out there. Especially in Europe, I hear they got all kinds of idols out there.

First off, do you not see any contradiction between this question and asking "What is wrong with calling Islam religion of peace?"? Secondly, desecrating the sacred objects of other religions (or even one's own) is religious intolerance. It doesn't matter whether you own them or not - you're expressing immense disrespect & intolerance towards the beliefs of those who do hold these objects as religiously important.

This claimed dialogue between Muhammad and his father reeks of monotheist ignorance. It assumes polytheists don't understand the concepts of imagery & metaphor; that we are incapable of viewing something as a symbol for something else, that we must believe a statue is our god rather than an image to help with ritual focus.

And thus you have demonstrated the violence of Islam and the prophet very well.
Let me explain:- What Muhammad did was wrong, evil, unethical.
Till you get it into your head, your view of the world will be skewed.

Yes I agree, there is also one in Brazil that needs to get smashed.

Wow, you're really doing a swell job on selling people on this whole Islam thing.

Great, I'm glad you liked it - lets talk sometimes.

Prophet Luqmaan once said to his son "O my son, do not set up any idols beside God; idolatry is a gross injustice."
