What is heaven like?

The Transcended Omniverse

Well-Known Member
Now I am agnostic. I do not know if there is a heaven or not. But if there is, then what is it like? Is it an eternal blissful life that has no misery and no suffering? If so, then that is the life worth living to me and I will stick around in this life and bear through any suffering and misery in this life so that I can get that life since that is the ultimate life worth living to me.

That is my only reason for sticking around in this life. If I was not an agnostic and thought that there was no afterlife, then I would just give up on this life immediately and take myself out of it right here and now. Even though I am kind towards my family, the fact that they would grieve over my suicide will not change anything.

There is no way I am living a life of unhappiness and misery and I would have to take myself out of such a life. Me having a blissful life that has as little suffering and misery as possible is the only life worth living to me.

I came here to be happy and have no misery in my life since that is the only experience that makes my life worth living. Everything else and all other experiences are completely empty and devoid to me. So I do hope that me choosing to stay in this life anyway will pay off later and that I will get the ultimate eternal blissful life.

Yes, eternal life without misery or suffering, I believe, which would have no meaning without knowing what those things are..

Heaven is a spiritual state not a place. It's very difficult to explain in worldly terms. Heaven is another consciousness, another reality where one experiences sentiments people sigh for in vain and rarely ever attain.

Sentiments such as Certitude, a level of knowledge higher than that of logic and reasoning but that embraces both. One can walk the earth and be in heaven at the same time. It is a state of nearness to God from obeying His laws not just worship and belief.

A person is not in a state of heaven necessarily always as there will be times when this physical world and its cares will cause sorrow and pain and weigh our spirits down.

But there is always the ability to rise above these things.

How does one attain heaven?

In the time of Moses to attain it acceptance of Moses and His laws were the requirements. When Christ appeared the state of heaven could only be attained by turning to Him and after Him Muhammad and now Baha'u'llah.

We cannot reach a state of heaven spiritually unless we accept all truth not just the parts we like, for heaven embraces all truth as well as science.

When humanity accepts each other as part of one human family and each other's Faith as part of one progressive Truth, then we shall have a type of heaven on earth.

Heaven is not something geographical, it is not something outside you, somewhere above the clouds; it is within you. The whole idea of a geographical heaven somewhere out there has led millions of people into all kinds of stupidities, no heaven and hell is within you, just take your pick.:innocent:

Beautifully put! Couldn't have said it better.

The afterlife for most people is a coming home to your soul group friends and experiencing love and further pursuit of your interests. A very positive place. But while here, we have to strive our best for the spiritual progress that can best be learned on the physical plane. No need to rush our end though, our physical lives are pretty short in the eternal perspective....father time will take us all out rather soon.

It seems to me that you're trying to figure out the nature of suffering, and to answer the question as to why life is full of suffering. Why attempt to treat the symptoms of suffering, instead of addressing suffering itself, as the Buddha did?

I think Jesus said "the kingdom of God is within you"...or it might have been "among you"?

I suppose the details are different for everyone, but my impression is that life simply goes on, though you're not as tied to the same limitations you are in this one.

I do not value any spiritual learning, growing, or developing. I only value being happy and having no misery in my life. So my only reason for staying here in this life and not ending my life is because it may be my only way to the eternal blissful afterlife I value so much if it even exists.

My hope is an earth free of pain, suffering, sickness, and death. Wars are a thing of the distant past. Mankind is united in a loving brotherhood. Food is available for all. Unemployment, homelessness, crime, are all gone. Even the animals are peaceful. All mankind are united in worshipping the only true God. I believe this was, and is, the true God's unchangeable purpose when he created us, as revealed in the Bible. The Bible calls this "the real life". (1 Timothy 6:19)

I agree fully with you but how are we going to unite humanity?

The Bible explains that "It is according to his good pleasure that [God] himself purposed for an administration at the full limit of the appointed times, to gather all things together in the Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth." (Ephesians 1:12) Already true Christians form an international brotherhood, united in true worship and love for one another. Onlt Jehovah can bring this unity about, IMO.

That's wonderful! An international brotherhood!! That's what the world needs to have unity and peace.

This is what we Baha'is believe very similar to you and we believe in Jesus too and the Holy Bible...

"If you desire with all your heart, friendship with every race on earth, your thought, spiritual and positive, will spread; it will become the desire of others, growing stronger and stronger, until it reaches the minds of all men.” (Baha'i Writings)

Religions have differing views of heaven but many if not most people who have near death experiences are like the one mentioned by @Eliab ben Benjamin

About the vast majority of suicides, what I believe is that we have some work to do on Earth and if we cut it short, we get stuck for a long time and then have to come back to complete that work.

No offense, but why would you want to be in a place where something could possibly go wrong. Heaven, IMHO, should not be based on the whims of others; it should be a personal experience.

Sir
Entering heaven has some conditions
First is to believe in Allah
Otherwise u won't go to paradise
And being agnostic is counted as unfaithfulness

Try to find a true religion on the world and act according to its principal then u will attain salvation
And one of the reason of pain in this world isالملك
[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving - (2)

And even if u are believer u aren't free to do everything
العنكبوت
أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوا أَن يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ
Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried? (2)

And those who experience some unimaginable happiness near the death it's not heaven just another kind of life for dead people that only their souls exist
After resurrection these souls return to their bodies again and with these carnal bodies they go to heaven or hell
