I'm Ignorant, hence I am a Theist!

Saw the above thread but the author seems to have made a mistake instead of saying theist, he wrote Atheist and so i thought let me correct this

Who is leading the fight against Science? Not Atheists. Who is still insisting that the world was made in 7 days, that dinosaurs did not exist, still trying to deny evolution? Not Atheists

Sadly, lack of knowledge seems to define theists - and they are giving the rest of us theists a bad name

Once, a long time ago when we knew little about the universe, we believed the sun circled the earth - the stars were little magical light-bulbs - it was a cozy little place - but as our knowledge got better and better and the size of the universe kept increasing, God has been receding at a fast pace. Today he is hiding behind the big bang, i believe - since Science cannot explain what caused the big bang - there you go, God!

Lack of Knowledge = God? Is this is what God has been reduced to?

Yeah reduced to sitting under trees with the head in the hands , waiting .
Lack of scientific forensic proof as we can't get the whole of the universe into a court room .
Depends what your looking for I guess , what proof one needs , what would be proof ?
Most religions are built around a narrative that have valuable lessons and laws for society.
I do not see an Athiest code of laws , documents of civil rights is nothing concrete from athiest is only an individual stance oldest religion suggests humans were genetically engineered.
Who know maybe one day we might get our planet x or maybe not in your lifetime NASA look for it everyday and understand maybe not all is as seems .

And yet when your child is sick - what do you do? Stand around and pray? Methinks you will be running to the nearest hospital

And when the day comes when it is your turn to go, i see you kicking and screaming at the doc to "save you" - from God? From heaven?

You wrote those words on a computer, thanks to Science. This forum is on the Internet - thanks to Science. You live longer, healthier lives thanks to Science. I bet you have your job thanks to Science - but what Science won't do is lie to you which religion is more than happy to do so. You want Eternal life? Sure! You want a nice easy after life? Sure! At what point will it strike you that these are simple easy promises to make? Any Bernie Madoff can make the same claims

Would you invest with me if i promised great returns but you can't touch the money - but will be given to you only after your death? I will send you a nice statement on how well your investments are doing? Look - you made a great profit while the market was crashing! Isn't that wonderful?

As for laws - tell me is Slavery wrong? Would you please look into your religious books and tell me where it says that? I might have a few more questions

Is a chapel in my hospital of course I would take her to hospital , the local garage only does welding , however has been billions before me and billions will follow , I never ask God for anything , period .
When my day comes I will embrace with clear conscience knowing I did more good than harm to world.
On death bed I will be comfortable if I have time to think.
No I don't need science that way , we came before applicable science for benefit of society. Without our part science may never of had platform to explore .
Christian nations most advanced in world.
No I don't want eternal life , God should of destroyed humanity but maybe he couldn't human poison does not contaminate the heavens is a small price to pay I get restless is not a problem.
I don't believe in gambling don't buy lottery
Slavery illegal in my country but think it still happens in ethnic communities.

The point is that Science has done so much for us, we should be grateful - what has religion ever done? How many mass murders have been committed in the name of religion? How much hatred has been stoked in the name of religion? And when we take a critical look - where is the evidence for any God or Gods? none. Zero

As for death bed - sometimes it helps if we don't take things so personally. Millions of religious people like yourself, talk up heaven and yet when the time comes, they fight tooth and nail to avoid heaven

Christian nations most advanced yes, but not because they encouraged Science, nations advanced despite the religion, not because of it

You do not want eternal life? Then you will not have it. Hinduism teaches us that we decide our own fate. You do not want Real Life after this - your wish will be granted, you will cease to exist

As for slavery - i didn't ask you whether it was legal or illegal - we know it is wrong - my question was how did you know it was wrong? You say religions gave us laws - so tell me, what does your religion say about slavery? US History of slavery - conducted by christians - did they not know it was wrong? Did their religion not inform them that it was wrong?

Not everyone has to be afraid of a supernatural being in order to be good.

Yes I telephone the god science weekly saying how grateful we are for the things he done , like Hiroshima.
Who s to say there would even be a world left , if it was up to athiests .
God is why the christian armies did not wipe from existance our enimies , by Gods grace alone they are sparred.
I remember our previous was issues regarding spawning as cuckoo next time round .
Nations advance despite religion ? Care give example outside christian world ?That we not gifted the technology .
Example ?
Jesus I do not think would of agreed to have slaves kind of goes against the grain.
Slavery was around long before christianity .
Eventually yes slavery was abolished by christians
