Each religion has some truth?

I always thought that it wasn't that every religion is wrong or only one was right and the rest was wrong but that each major religion had some truth in them.

For example I think there is an afterlife or multiple afterlives, but reincarnation has a part in it and that almost every deity in mythology actually exists, karma has a play in it and so forth. And that there are higher beings, like nature spirits, angels, devas ect. and that perhaps the universe was never created and will never be destroyed like in Jainism.

What do you think?

Hi, Theweirdtophat

My research and through prayer, I came to the understanding that any religious belief, that exercises love for his or her neighbor, is honorably accepted by the Creator.

Yes well in my view all the major religions have a common spiritual Source... revealed at various times to various peoples. Spiritual truth has been revealed through various cultures and languages as guidance. Over time new revelations have appeared providing many of the same truths but with more timely contexts and relevancies. So there is one religion of God only revealed at various times and for varied occasions... The laws and ordinances are variable depending on the circumstances.

I think all of the Religions are taught by an invisible entity and that entity was or is able to move around the world without being observed by humans.

What truth? What is the critera/truth to which all religions will comfortably agree to?

I mean that there is truth in some of them. Like Buddhism is right about a few things when it comes to the afterlife, so are some pagan religions ect or that there are multiple afterlives which resemble some of the ones that are seen in Christianity, Hinduism ect. And despite me bring a druid I thought almost all the deities exist. It's just that I agree and am more comfortable around the Celtic deities

I suspect it's more to do with which set of beliefs people are most comfortable with.

Are we saying every religion has some truth or every major religion has some truth? There are a lot of religions out there that teach entirely contradictory values. If we're to stick with just major religions, which ones are we talking about?

Whether or not they contain 'truth' is debatable, I'd certainly say that they all have some form of value/benefit though.

I think that's probably a more useful way of looking at it.

Some religions are outright exploitative, destructive scams and ought to be repudiated and forgotten. Even those have some truth in them.

I think that such an effort as yours has good intentions but is ultimately very much misguided. You are making an effort to save the bath water at the expense of the bathtub and of the baby.

Not sure why you even want to do that, really.

This is about similar beliefs. The fact that a belief in reincarnation is common to several religious traditions doesn't say anything about whether reincarnation is actually true. The same is true of gods, and all manner of religious beliefs.

Each one seem to define other segments/parts of the truth.

I don't see how because the "truths" are often contradictory. I think this is all about different beliefs, and very little to do with "truth".

(e.g. Yours and mine that is. But ours is just the halves of the truth.

My understanding is that God introduced Himself to human first by various ways; revelation and natural phenomenon and conscience.

The truth continued to evolve according to capacities of people and era.

With passage of time, people forgot or changed basic teachings of religions and added or subtracted things. Yet presence of large amount of followers over centuries reflects that base was true [however changed].

Islam claims it possesses basic truths of all religions too, and it is preserved. It has built-in systems for the reformation in weakness-in-practice times [as Ahmadiyya Promised Messiah Mahdi and Khilafat appeared in this era].
