I keep seeing frubie/frubal, etc ... help a new gal out here and define it? Thanks. :)
Frubals are RF's main export good. Their confection is a trade secret known only by its owner and a select circle of associates.

There are legends about their miraculous healing powers, but in truth they are far more than that.

However, that is the reality. The cover story that I am allowed to admit is something else entirely. To witness:

"Frubals are a gone but hardly forgotten feature of the previous forum software. In some respects they are comparable to the current "Likes" system, but had a bit more punch to them, including spirituous descriptors, fancy colorful 'medal' patterns and, for a long time, an eventually abused system of proportional mutual growth.

That because when a forum user liked someone else's post, it was expressed by an (anonymous) giving of frubals. Frubals were not lost once given, but they were given in amounts of (IIRC) one and a half percent of the giver's own frubal total.

Human nature being what it is, that soon enough led to the creation of a secret oligarchical cabal with supernatural powers I am not allowed to reveal I mean, of whole threads meant exclusively for the illegal traffic of frubals healthy, mature and no doubt purposeful mutual giving of frubals. Had frubals had any actual purchasing value, it would have been destroyed then and there.

As it turns out, the frubal totals grew so large that a mass devaluation did happen anyway, leading to a dark I mean, glorious sober period when frubals were only given and received one at a time. It was the triumph of the proletariat dirty communism a necessary concession to the limitations of forum software, which could only safely handle numbers before they grew to a certain value.

The current forum software never had frubals, but they will live forever in the hearts and minds of the Resistance many forum users remember them and keep referencing them out of habit."

Yes, right, that is the truth. Or so I have been said to tell you.

The short version....
In the old RF software platform, "frubal" was an invented word for a <like>.
Naturally, I had to pervert the word into "frubie", "frubitude", "furball", etc, etc.
I refuse to adopt the new term!

Robots, in this context, are largely automated software that navigates through websites in order to collect information for search engines and the like.

They are not completely invasive; there are simple, well-known measures that website designers may use to ask them not to look into their sites.

It is in large part due to their existence and popularity that Captchas were developed and became widespread by their turn.

As for guests, they are in essence forum visitors who did not log in, possibly because they have never signed in. Some of them may be poorly-identified robots.

Okay, great to know this. thanks Luis. :)

Would it be possible to create a seperate forum for movements that do not self-identify as religious but as spiritual (non-sectarian or trans-sectarian movements)?

@Marcion : The only areas that might somehow restrict such movements are the DiRs.

Everything else, including the Religious Topics areas, does not even attempt to distinguish religious from spiritual.

The DIRs attempt to be very comprehensive, but it is not unthinkable to create new ones. A more specif proposal would probably be necessary, though.

You may want to create a thread in the Site Feedback area to tell staff more about your idea.

I hope I'm doing this correctly. The software in use here is completely new to me and is glitchy (unable to make paragraphs). I'm new here and I joined to ask more theologically educated members questions. If I understand the rules correctly, as a Deist, I cannot post in the Christianity sub-forum. I have a question about The Serpent in the Garden of Eden. Where do I post it? (now unable to turn off Bolding).

Hi, RRex. Welcome to RF! :)

If you are seeking the perspectives of Christian members on the Serpent in the Garden of Eden, the best place for the question is the Christianity DIR; non-members of a DIR's designated belief system can only post respectful questions there. However, if you are seeking the perspectives of people from all faiths or lack thereof, you can post the question in the Comparative Religion forum.

Please note that argumentative questions, even if worded respectfully, are not allowed in DIR sections. If the question is argumentative in nature, then it belongs in Religious Debates or General Religious Debates.

I hope this helps.

Another question: Is there a non-mobile/desktop version of the site I can access? I'm on a smartphone exclusively and the UI is terrible.

There is actually only a desktop version of this website in addition to the one available on the Tapatalk app. However, some things aren't visible when you browse from a phone: the "Religion" field, members' signatures, and post number, for example.

Thanks. I switched over to Chrome for this forum and things are working much better.

I have a quick question. My apologies if I overlooked it in the Forum Rules:

I don't visit here often (sorry!). Sometimes I see discussions within "my" DIR forum, sometimes as much as a month old, where the discussion has tapered off. What is the best way to revive that discussion: by posting on the old thread or simply starting a new one. I know some forums have rules admonishing either of those actions. I'd just like to know the proper way to engage that dialogue, even if I'm late to the party. =)

Thanks.
