The allure of Trump

The definition of an oligarchy is a small group of people having control of a country, organization, or institution.

Given the control that the small group of the very wealthy have over the writing of laws including giving their bought-and-paid-for legislatures actual copies of those laws to pass, we're living in an oligarchy. The only question is which group of oligarchs control which party.

Right- and left-wing populists are united in wanting to return control of the country to the people although the disagreements are almost total about how to do that.
I don't entirely agree with your analysis, but your balance is a detente of sort!

Could you post that because sources on two different national channels haven't found a single tape or recording of any type to support that, and the Jersey City chief of police says he knows of no such demonstration. And remember that Trump said the numbers were in the "hundreds of thousands". At least Carson admitted his "mistake" on this.

Here in the Detroit area, we have the largest Muslim population in the States, and no such thing happened here.
I live right here in Bergen County NJ where there is a huge Muslim population (many of the leading terrorists were captured here), I watched from my roof as the towers fell and watched celebrations in the backyards afterwards. It did happen and it was a sickening sight.

Weird....why would they live someplace they'd want destroyed & their neighbors murdered?

Maybe you should take your story to the media, you seem to be one of the only people that remember seeing this!! Also what makes you certain these people were Muslims??

Oh a lot of them have moved since . . . certainly some of the ones that had backyard celebrations from what I have seen. Maybe they had specific 'intentions' while they took root right directly across the Hudson from the Towers?

Burqas are dead give away for one, another is one of the bigger celebrations took place right across from School #5 and the police needed to attend to them . . . and I have connections with the town. I have no desire to go to the media, what the hell for? I'm not the only one who recalls this . . . there is an entire town that recalls it.

You are saying this happened, but the officials are saying it didn't.
Oh, hell, folks you know as well as I, without video tape proof that some of these Muslims did celebrate here in the US when the two towers fell. I remember seeing them, and I shall remember and I will never forget!
Lots of people even have encounters with aliens, and some of them suffer from anxiety and even PTSD from their encounters. But, of course, they can't actually prove they had this encounter, as they most likely did not happen.

It's interesting that dang near every criticism of Trump is applicable to the leading Dem front runner.
But this keen lens is seldom applied to one's favorite.
One big difference is that Trump wouldn't have to cadge for money.

You think the leading Dem front runner is a demagogue?
Hmmm...*ponders* I'm assuming you mean Hillary, right?
Dunno. I wouldn't have gone that way as a first thought, but I'm no fan of hers. Then again, I'm a non-combatant in your election wars, so perhaps an outlier.

They were Muslim trust me . . . oh maybe a bunch of Buddhists dressed up in Muslim garbs, speaking Arabic were all celebrating in their backyards immediately after the collapse of the Towers . . . yeah that's it Buddhists.

You are saying this happened, but the officials are saying it didn't.
What officials? Were they here?
I know what I saw, my wife just commented on how disgusting it was, we have plenty of neighbors who witnessed this and talk about to this day, the police here were called on several of the celebrations so there would be records.

The mayor and chief of police are both saying it didn't happen.
People don't always see what they think they did. Did some Muslims celebrate and cheer? Of course, and we have video evidence of it. Was this going on in America? Maybe, but no one who has claimed to have seen has been able to prove it or show any evidence, yet so many people remember it. Hence the bit about alien abductions.

Or I suppose I could have mentioned instead of aliens all of the people who claim to have had a dream the night before of 9/11 in which, allegedly, they saw the attacks happening.

We don't know the intentions of the government, they lie like rugs to us all the time
I have nothing to gain by lying to you about this

Washington Post reported on September 18, 2001–one week after the 9/11 Islamic terror attacks, that the law enforcement officers were investigating people in Muslim enclaves of Jersey City, New Jersey who were seen the day of the attacks celebrating and holding rooftop parties to watch the aftermath of the attack on the Twin Towers unfold across the Hudson River in New York City. One of the Post’s reporters later stated his sources were eyewitnesses and Jersey City police officers.

…”In Jersey City, within hours of two jetliners’ plowing into the World Trade Center, law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style parties on rooftops while they watched the devastation on the other side of the river.”

That's still not proof that it happened. Lots of people have allegedly seen Big Foot, even though he probably isn't real. And then there is also this:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...brated-the-911-attacks/?tid=pm_politics_pop_b
STEPHANOPOULOS:Police say it didn’t happen.”

STEPHANOPOULOS: “As I said, the police have said it didn’t happen.”
...
But an extensive examination of news clips from that period turns up nothing. There were some reports of celebrations overseas, in Muslim countries, but nothing that we can find involving the Arab populations of New Jersey except for unconfirmed reports....As the Newark Star-Ledger put it in an article on Sept. 18, 2001, “rumors of rooftop celebrations of the attack by Muslims here proved unfounded.”
...
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who is also seeking the GOP nomination, told reporters that he also did not recall seeing what Trump claimed. “I do not remember that, and so it’s not something that was part of my recollection,” he said. “I think if it had happened, I would remember it, but, you know, there could be things I forget, too.”...
...we also contacted Jerry Speziale, the police commissioner of Paterson, which has the second-largest Muslim population in the United States — numbering nearly 30,000. He minced few words, even using a barnyard epithet, while giving his response.

“That is totally false. That is patently false,” Speziale said. “That never happened. There were no flags burning, no one was dancing. That is [barnyard epithet].” He said the main concern after the attacks was that the U.S. Muslim population would face retaliation, and so law enforcement officials worked with the community to ensure that did not happen. “They’ve been very helpful and law-abiding.”
...
Update: Some readers have tweeted to The Fact Checker a Washington Post article from Sept. 18, 2001, as evidence of Trump’s claim. The article, which appeared on page 6, described FBI probes in northern New Jersey after the attacks, saying in the 15th paragraph that “law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style parties on rooftops while they watched the devastation on the other side of the river.”

Of course, “a number of people” obviously does not equal “thousands” — and “allegedly” indicates there is no video footage or other proof that celebrations actually took place.
The reporters who wrote the story do not recall whether the allegations were ever confirmed. “I certainly do not remember anyone saying that thousands or even hundreds of people were celebrating,” said Serge Kovaleski, one of the reporters. “That was not the case, as best as I can remember.”

Fredrick Kunkle, the other reporter, added: “I specifically visited the Jersey City building and neighborhood where the celebrations were purported to have happened. But I could never verify that report.”

(The right-leaning Powerline blog made a big deal about this sentence–as did Trump later–but as the reporters’ comments make clear, there is no evidence the alleged celebration ever took place.)

Since less than 1% of American Muslim women wear Burqas, that makes your claim sound especially bogus!!

Demagoguery is a popular tool because it's effective.
But it's easier & more satisfying to see it in the enemy.

It's possible that the burqa wearers would be more fundie & more concentrated in his area.
But I'm still skeptical.

I agree, but sitting from where I am (which is admittedly a hemisphere away) he looks pretty darn demagogue-ish to me. If it helps, I can insult Hillary too. I'd just use a slightly different flavour of insult.

They use the same tools, but with different styles.
She's certainly more polished, but people are used to that.
His candor is risky, but novel.
