What happens when we die?

Robert.Evans

You will be assimilated; it is His Will.
Because human consciousness is a function of the brain. Even when we are alive we don't have consciousness much of the time. All of the dreamless stages of sleep, we're not conscious. When were under anethesia, we're not consicious. When we're comatose, not conscious. Brain dead people don't know they are there.

Human consciousness is a function of our brains. No brain, no consciousness. To think when we die something flies out of our body and somehow makes us conscious again, so we remember our lives, know who our loved ones are, etc,. is so far beyond absurd it's incredible to me that even one person on the planet believes it.

But fear of death is a powerful thing and the desire to live forever causes people to kid themselves. It's all good I guess if it gets you to sleep at night.
Well I certainly don't fear death, so that can't be the answer.

Maybe not in your case, but for billions of other humans, fear of death/unwillingness to accept being alive is a powerful reason to invent all the thousands of versions of "afterlife" that we see recorded throughout history.

Maybe in your case it's just generally being soft in the head?

j/k :p

But it might also be because that is what are supposed to think and therefore seek the right thing. There has to be causal reason, right?

So let's say 25 hundred billion trillion years from now, Yahweh is still ruling in his Golden Pyramid. Statistically speaking, the ~200,000-250,000 years is meaningless. Why all the hub-bub about commandments and faith and judgment and all this, if this stretch of time is basically going to mean nothing in the face of an ever extending eternity?
Well would you prefer infinite pain or infinite joy ?

Remember, spirits cannot be destroyed by infinite pain.

Would you prefer to explore the universe with the Spirit of Christ by your side, or screwed into a hell hole lava pit for eternity.

Every spirit has a choice.

But what is that life? Is that life the light of God or are you saying it us. If so, what is death?

In the story of the prodigal son one of the two brothers takes his inheritance and goes off into the far country to live his life.
We are the brother and the life is the inheritance.

We have what is called a vital life force that sustains us, it is our inheritance, our birthright.
With this inheritance we are to make our way in this world.
If we do not wake up to our circumstance here in this world, which is that we are ruled over by our carnal desires and the ruler of the far country, we eventually use up our inheritance and the body is unable to sustain itself any longer.

Death then is the using up of this vital life force through riotous living.
We then return to our soul-self a failed image.
We do not return to the Father.

This journey of the prodigal son is the journey of the eternal soul.
Our soul-self creates countless images in an effort to achieve the goal of returning to the Father.
All souls will eventually return to the Father just like Jesus did.

This says it much better than i can.
I have a lot to learn.

Gospel of the Nazirenes
Chap 37

1.Jesus sat in the porch of the temple, and some came to learn His doctrine, and one said to Him, "Master, what do you teach concerning life?"

2.And He said to them, "Blessed are they who suffer many experiences, for they will be made perfect through suffering; they will be as the angels of God in heaven and will die no more. Neither will they be born any more, for death and birth have no more dominion over them."

3."They who have suffered and have overcome will be made pillars of the temple of my God, and they will go out no more. I say to you, except you be born again of water and of fire, you cannot see the kingdom of God."

4.And a certain Rabbi, Nicodemus, came to Him by night for fear of the Jews, and said to Him, "How can a man be born again when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born again?"

5.Jesus answered "Except a man be born again of flesh and of spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of God. The wind blows where it lists, and you hear the sound of it, but can not tell from where it comes or to where it goes."

6."The light shines from the East even to the West; out of the darkness. The sun rises and sets into darkness again; so is it with man, from the ages to the ages."

7."When it cometh from the darkness, it is that he has lived before, and when it goes down again into darkness, it is that he may rest for a little, and there after again exist."

8."So through many changes must you be made perfect, as it is written in the book of Job, 'I am a wanderer, changing place after place and house after house, until I come into the city and mansion which is eternal.'"

9.And Nicodemus said to him, "How can these things be?" And Jesus answered , "You are a teacher in Israel, and do not understand these things? Truly, we speak that which we know, and bear witness to that which we have seen, and you do not receive our witness."

10."If I tell you of earthly things, and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you of heavenly things? No one ascends into heaven, unless they descended out of heaven, even the son or daughter of man which is in Heaven."

Brain dead people don't know they are there.

I Did .... 24/2/82 ... Pronounced "Brain Dead after massive trauma in Car" Frontal Lobe penetration by
steering column, Basal depressed fracture from being hit by my friends Spine (He became a paraplegic)
Right hemisphere exploded out from the pressure of frontal and basal impact, 40% of my brain spilled
on my knee...

And yet during that coma i was aware of people talking to and about me, unable to respond, like i was
trapped down a dark well.... and at some time during that 12 days i had an NDE, visited that other
plane, went through a life review, visited my grandfather ... and at the time disappointingly the
Gatekeeper sent me back with a Task to perform !! ... i am still a little irritated that i returned with
no instructions or even clue cards for the task ... hopefully by now it is done ..

A smile comes to mind that i proved Professor of Neurosurgery and subsequent experts wrong
with regards to living, disability, cognition, and independence ... My mother says it on account
of being stubborn.

None of us survive our own deaths. It's a nice fantasy, but get over it people. We die, we're not permanent. Nothing is eternal, why on Baal's Blue Ball would anyone think human consciousness is??
if no one survives....the Man is a mystery with no purpose or resolve.

what? 7billion souls and no one crosses over?.....not one?

Err, no thanks, there is enough about it in the NDE websites, and chapter 3 of the book
"Nothing Better than Death" by Kevin Williams ....
Or perhaps me the bully of Government (lobbyist) who founded a Head Injury Soc. of NZ
and then achieved Cycle Helmet Act, Disability Act. and Rehabilitation Facilities.
Or perhaps the 7 Inventions to Improve Life Support Equipment whilst i worked for 20 years
at the local hospital as a Biomedical Engineer ...

Early life the Short Skinny Nerdy Geek, who hid in the library, Surf lifesaver to Ambulance
officer for community service whilst i was a Optical Instrument Tech. for employment.
See boring .... besides i can't write an autobiography i am too technical, miss out on
the human stuff ...

Shalom

Are you saying that happened to you? I am so sorry for you. You are doing well then if that is the case.
There are so many different people in the world aren't there. :)

Yes this happened to me ... long ago now

Please No, do not feel sorry for me, one of the more defining events of my life ..
Baruch Hashem ( Blessed is the Lord ), a life in service to others has its own somewhat
special rewards of contentment ..

Yes , thankfully, would it not be tedious if we were all alike ...

I am pleased you are content with your lot, as the saying goes. We should all give thanks to the Jews, you for your reasons and me for mine. We are pretty well lost without them. :)

Terrible thing. Glad your with us now.

But brain damage is not brain dead, is not an example of what happens to the dead. You never were dead, just getting very close.

So these personal experiences do not reflect or give any weight or evidence towards an afterlife or spirit.

They are actually quite typical of many NDE when the brain looses power and malfunctions.

What happens when we die?

You rot, you consciousness stops, and you no longer exist.

Anything else is factually unsupported and has a mythological origin.
