Is anyone going to do something for the Autumn Equinox?

I don't know if I'll do this on Wednesday evening 9/23 or Sat. 9/26, which coincidentally is my mother's birthday. She would have been 102 years old! The equinox is actually 4:22 AM EDT here. I have a very simple blót to honor and thank the Vanir: Freyr, Freyja, Njördr, Nerthus; and additionally Sif and Jörð for their gifts. The blót I found calls for cider and bread. It will take all of 10 minutes, as my blóts do as a rule, unfortunately because I am a solo practitioner. :sob:

Anyone else observe it?

Hail the Vanir!
Hail Freyja and Freyr!
Hail Njörd and Nerthus!
Hail Sif and Jörð!
Hail the Æsir! Hail Thórr!
Hail the Ancestors and Landvaettir
Hail the Álfar and Dísír!

We are going to do a little celebration at the local park in disguise as a picnic :) Cider and bread sounds good and I've never done that myself. Maybe add my own mini blót at 4am to get things started :D

Actually, I dont know. I have always been trying to figure what type of cebebrations I should do. It seems Im so disattached like Im doing something off. Im learning about the Japanese Gods and Goddesses and see how heir culture celebrates it. Do you ask your gods about how to celebrate or?

My local group had our Mabon ritual earlier today which was lovely. Well, apart from some [expletive deleted] dropping a flaming can down on us as we were toasting our friends and gods. Not to worry, nobody was injured and nothing was damaged. :)

Absolutely observing it, but can't do it on the day of this year, unfortunately.

In our area, Mabon is Pagan Pride Day, so we went up and joined the festivities in Sacramento. It was really nice, and I bought a number of crafty things to decorate the new apartment for the coming change of season (At least I hope its coming - feels silly having gone past two "autumn" holidays while our heat wave rolls on unabated).

No, there's already a good amount of info in books and on the web about the yearly cycle of holidays. Most holidays are observed w/ a blót or sumbel. Recently I put together a booklet that has a blót for each of 7 holidays. The format is virtually identical in each, the difference being prayers and hails for who or what is being honored.

That's a good topic to bring up. I might put food out by the stream in my backyard as an offering to the spirit of the watershed. I haven't done any blóts yet; I've been more focused on research and just set up my altar recently. I also don't have a drinking horn, but I've heard that one can adapt.

Nice. I came onto uncharted territory. I'm trying to find a more solid way of celebrating the equonoxes. I was thinking of Indian cosmology since Buddhism has a lot to do with that. I don't know if it relates the seasons. Most cultures I know have some relation when it comes to seasonal celebrations. Do you have advice?

We will be celebrating as astronomers do, and we'll think of you with your cider... hmmm...

I am going to be doing a mini-ritual around 0330 on the 23rd, and potentially DJing some music for a get together later that afternoon. Time to bring Autumn in finally, I am over the summer heat already.

It is also Ganesh Chaturthi, and while this is not a Pagan festival or necessarily Fall-related, I realized as I was pouring libations this morning that honoring my Hindu patron, himself in many ways a creator of change for better or worse, is a fine way to be spending the balance of the year. So there's that.

It's also Bisexuality Visibility Day in the area, as well, so me and Moonwater will be going to a thing in San Francisco. Don't know how comfortable the other people there would be in me bringing up the Gods, but...

Really? I should wear my timey-wimey button to work tomorrow! Alas there is no hope of my going to the City (I have work). But I shall support you all in spirit. I'm sure they'll be fine if you point out the hermaphroditic qualities of some of those gods...

Hehe.

I very much believe that Woden and Loki are both genderqueer, and that Frey and Freya are pansexual.

The event is later in the day (I think... between 5 and 9), though I hate being in the City, so we probably won't stay past Sunset.
