He took a vow!
Knowing a little of Vinayaka, there is no way out but to wait for one year. But a request to him. He must come as before after one year.

I will be off to Mangalore/Belur/Halebidu for a week. That will be a fulfillment of my life's desire, seeing those wonderful temples. So, RF is going to be without the trouble-maker.

He seemed/seems to feel him not being around would give many members a bit more breathing room. And he didn't like irritating people with his views, which he felt he did, even though that was not his intention.

I hope he wouldn't mind me sharing this.

For many many years Vinayaka was and still is like a teacher and a father to me. I can only wish for him to fulfill his vow, and will pray to see him back as I would be so happy to be able to read and write to him !

Another thing, Vinayaka and myself are the same at the Paramarthika level and are eternal (Shivoham, Shivoham), I think he would agree to this, but one year is a long time. Will I (of the Vyavaharika) be there after one year? No one knows. :D

I could probably point out the post that really started this. I don't know if he really liked me, but he was a great person and his posts kept this DIR alive and informative.

I think he liked pretty much everyone. He just had a bit of trouble talking to some who he had little common ground with. Which, of course, we all do.

No Aup for a week! I hope you enjoy yourself.

As another point: it was easily a couple of months ago that V-dada left. So substantially less than a year to go!

Hi guys. I am relaxing in Rishikesh for a little while before heading up to Badrinath.

I just posted a thread in the Vedanta DIR re: a proposal for a study group, to have discussions on what we are learning. Head on over there if you like and tell me what you think, and spread the word. :)

Rains, be careful. The Gangotri, Kedarnath routes has been closed. There are landslides even at lower altitudes (result of denudation of forests). I doubt if you can make it. It is rain-time and we are at the mercy of Lord Indra.

I am going to be away for a few days at an ashram, so my usual daily presence will take a break. See you all on Friday or Saturday :)

Ram-Dabar
Rām Darbār: Rama's court. That includes Lord Rama, Mother Sita, the three brothers - Bharat, Lakshman, Shatrughna and Hanuman sitting near Mother Sita's feet. In images perhaps also Guru Vasishtha and a bevy of Gods and Goddesses including Shiva and Brahma showering flower petals and admiring. :)
