On that Note, JWs I have a question for you

Q: What "unique" beliefs are in your faith as a Christian from "any" other christian denomination that makes You a christian? (What tenants you have that stand on its own as a "JW belief")?

Mind you these beliefs shouldnt be a contrast to what you disagree with, confrontational differences. For example, "you believe in hellfire but we are different we believe in This"...this is a difference not a core tenant that makes one christian on either side.

They are unique because they stand on their own. (Cant say my name, Carlita, is unique because it is isnt Jane. Rather, say my name is unique because it has this meaning to which our family holds dear regardless of who Jane is)
--
On the JW web site, it says:

We [JW] are Christians for the following reasons:

  • We try to follow closely the teachings and behavior of Jesus Christ.—1 Peter 2:21.

  • We believe that Jesus is the key to salvation, that “there is not another name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must get saved.”—Acts 4:12.

  • When people become Jehovah’s Witnesses, they are baptized in the name of Jesus.—Matthew 28:18, 19.

  • We offer our prayers in Jesus’ name.—John 15:16.

  • We believe that Jesus is the Head, or the one appointed to have authority, over every man.—1 Corinthians 11:33
(which All christians do; these arent unique)

However, in a number of ways, we are different from other religious groups that are called Christian. (Confrontational differences not unique)

For example, we believe that the Bible teaches that Jesus is the Son of God, not part of a Trinity. (Mark 12:29) We do not believe that the soul is immortal, that there is any basis in Scripture for saying that God tortures people in an everlasting hell, or that those who take the lead in religious activities should have titles that elevate them above others.Ecclesiastes 9:5; Ezekiel 18:4;Matthew 23:8-10.

--
These are unique but they arent the core of christian doctrine. In other words, belief in trinity, immortal soul, and enternal hellfire does not determine ones salvation.

Q: How are you different than other Christians Based On the core tenants of the Christian faith?....

rather than denominal differences such as the trinity (Jesus is Gods son divine or not), immortal soul (we can be sleep and God will come or be spirits on earth until he comes, the point is, he comes.), enternal damnation (separation from God could be fire, complete death, any number of things. The point is separation from God)

Carlita you said; Q: What "unique" beliefs are in your faith as a Christian from "any" other christian denomination that makes You a christian? (What tenants you have that stand on its own as a "JW belief")?

Starjade says; scuse me for butting into this conversation however,

According to the Jehovahs witness they say that the new Testament charcter Jesus died upon a tree.

The orthodox Christian religion states that Jesus died on a cross.

Thats odd. I think I read that. Does it make a difference what He died on, though?

They are the only religion, that I know, which teaches it is God's purpose that humans live FOREVER on a cleansed and righteous Earth. They believe the Earth will never be destroyed by any means.

Also they are the only Christian religion whose baptized members are all qualified ministers in that faith and they
go out and actively preach the Good News.

I believe these two actions and beliefs separate J.W. from the rest of Christendom.

For them it's important, because they reject the symbol of the cross as representative of their faith. They see it as a pagan symbol that "Christendom" added to the faith, along with the Trinity, Christmas, Easter, et al.

I was reading about christondom. It just said a collective name for the christian majority. If thats true, Im wondering too if JW believesnthey are the only true christians.

As with the cross...is it because thr Romans used crosses for general crucifixtion and JW dont want to be associated to pagan roman ways of exicution?

If my wife was to get hit and killed by a bus, I would not be sporting a bus pendant.

Hm. Nicely put. You can say, though, that many protestants look at the cross as his resurrection. So to them, its more "because my wife got killed by a bus by Gods hands, I shall remember the day she died by the way she died." turning a negative (our view) into a positive (Gods view).

EDIT

Example of many African Americans using the N word in a positive light as a identity of the mess we had to go through to get to the point of our being able to use words freely today. All in perspective?

I am not a JW... but for me looking from outside they are the only Christian faith that TRULY worship and serve Jehovah God.
Thus for me they are God's people on earth today...
You clearly need to get out more.

And no, simply putting "for me" in your false claim does not make it a true claim.

I have the proof that i need...so for me it is true.
How? That is isolating a whole lot of people, individuals, who Do truely worship the Jehovah God without my throwing any denomination labels around.

How are some people worshiping the True Jehovah and others arent? What basis do you know a person's relationship with Jehovah unless you are basing their relationship by their demomination rather than God?

Because i believe that there is only one true faith. I looked for it and found it in the JW's. I am not judging individuals in other faiths.

Maybe he/she thinks they are alone advertising God's Name because it is what the JWs say about themselves. But they are not the only ones. If they say they are the only ones, then they are lying. Lying and the worship of the only True God who is called "Jehovah" are not compatible.

Actually the name Jehovah does not mean The Holy God but I have heard it means the god of mischief if you break the letters of the word Jehovah down.

Never heard that tale before.
Here's a great site that explains the name of God as Jehovah and saves me a lot of typing.
Jehovah - Definition and Meaning, Bible Dictionary

Note it's not a jw.org site just to maintain an objective perspective.

You dont see other Christians (regardless the denomination or lack thereof) as worshiping the true Jehovah but JW?
