Hindu (this one, anyway): "Yay? Yahoo! Yes! This body is finished, this round of karma is over, time for a new body, new adventures, a startover, sort of.

Still not all that much of a deal.

This Hindu: Ooo! I wander what comes next - but I should probably not get ahead of myself. There's lots left to do here. It's a little sad that I'll forget everyone. But I know it will be okay in the end.

Myself:

Grant me, ye dearest gods, the boon to be [re-]born, again and again, to wondrous and caring parents; offer me thousand-fold opportunities to learn and be successful for vast knowledge is truly great; bless me in the venture to win a thousand-and-one glories; and after attaining both material and spiritual victories, if pleased, grant me the audience of the illustrious ancestors in their radiant halls so I may dine and wine with comrades and heroes in assembly.

Grant me O Lord that I can complete my learning within this life for this must be the only opportunity I have to attain my liberation never to be born into the sufferance of living in this wretched world in which evil of ignorance dominates.

That's why I put in the word paradigm, George. Life is good, but death is a mere transition. Take a shirt off, put one back on.

OK, gotcha. I didn't know how to take your statement 'Still not all that much of a deal'.

Then you do not have to get it all right in this life, for there is always hope for the next life to get it all right. I see what you are saying.

I hope I can get liberation after I die. If not, I hope I can at least take birth in a Srivaishnavite family.

The analogy (I'm sure I've said it before) my Guru made was, "Think of the mala, not the bead." So the paradigm difference really is reincarnation ... or not.

A sort of heaven phase for your consciousness before it reenters the challenge of bodily existence?
Well put, we have reunions with many in our soul group too. And a chance in peace to digest the learning experiences of the recent life.
