I hear claims that they are not same because of translation differences so much so that judaists derive different commandments out of torah than christians do from five books.
is this a valid claim?

I'm not sure. If you stick to a more literal translation then that shouldn't be a problem. Of course, you'd actually have to read Jewish commentary if you really want to understand the Jewish reading of the texts. As just reading the Torah itself won't really give you context.

so any link to a reading with commentaries? I noticed I am really following a plain path while reading and am all the time referring to what i think i already know about the phrases or words etc. perhaps there is another understanding in those commentaries if i can read them.

Commentaries in translation are hard to come by online. I think the Chabad website offers Torah with Rashi's commentary....

Please try the following two sites for Jewish Bible or Torah translated in English and also with the Hebrew text:

The Complete Tanach with Rashi's Commentary - Tanakh Online - Torah - Bible

Bible and Mishneh Torah for All - Jews and Gentiles / Mechon Mamre

That is not the correct way of understanding the Torah. The commentators have their own axe to grind.

Also the Christians and Jews don't understand the Torah correctly. Instead of changing themselves according to Torah; they change the text or its understanding according to their own creeds
Please don't comment on things that you clearly don't know about

2 Jews, 3 opinions ;)

I agree with you; hence the commentaries are most unreliable; one should not follow them blindly. It is better to get to know the meaning from the text and the context oneself.

One should be open minded rather to be blindfolded by others.

It's going to be hard to find what you're looking for on the internet. A couple of links have been presented, but most of the translations and commentaries are going to be in print rather than electronic; a good set of commentary often contain several volumes, and reading several different ones is highly recommended.

I have four different Torah translations I use just for my daily study.
