Who is genuinely a beggar ?

chinu

There are two kind of persons on the door of your home.

Person kind 1: The one who think of him/herself as Very-Deserving-Person, and seeking help.

Person kind 2: The one who think of him/herself as Undeserving-Person, but still seeking help.

Q2: Is there any True-beggar in this world ? what do you think ? :)

Q3: If there isn't, than why should God care helping false-beggars of this world ? :)

A 'true beggar' is the one who recognises the humility in the act of begging.

Even an 'undeserving beggar' has to subdue their ego to the extent they need to ask for help and rely on the charity of others.

So, even if they are like 'I don't have enough, but want more, can you kindly give it?' it still takes a certain degree of audacity and self-denial to beg.

God 'helps' those when He feels like helping...not when asked, so it doesn't really matter if one is a 'true beggar' or a 'false beggar'....he'll get whatever is coming to him.

We're all his children, And we're all sinners.

If you can say you've never lied, Then you can turn away the 'false-beggar'

Well, That's my two cents anyway

Actually, you didn't got my point, I think. :)

If one is like.. " I deserve this, so I want this, can you kindly give it ?" ... this is neither a beggar nor a begging.

But if one is like.. " I don't deserve this, but I still want this, can you kindly give it ? " ... this is true beggar and begging IMO. :)

You made the distinction between the 'true beggar' and 'false beggar' so I was just extrapolating on that.

Both are 'begging' in that they are asking another for something they do not have.

Of course, we all are sinners and we all are liars, Dear.
But God is not :)

And my thread is just to know the difference between a True-Beggar and False-Beggar, rather than to Turn away anybody.. loll :)

Claiming something in a beggar's style doesn't makes that Claim a begging.

And that's the biggest reason, why most of the beggars are turned away in this world, Or that's the reason why most of the people don't feel like helping such false people. :)

Hello chinu. The two persons as shown above are the same people, same situation, same want or need, just with different mindsets. Persons kind 1 (say) are hungry and think that they deserve. Persons kind 2 (say) are hungry and think that they do not deserve. Persons kind 2 might be the more humble............ but they both (say) are hungry.

The birds line our fence, and wait upon our bird table for Mrs B to feed them..
In summer, a hedgehog always comes back to see if we still put out dog-food for it.
Companies pay to come into our lounge through our television to askl us to buy their products and services.
Local tramps ask for the price of a cup of tea and sandwich.
Charities call and ask for funds.

We all beg..... by asking....... in different ways.

Q3: If there isn't, than why should God care helping false-beggars of this world ? :)
God doesn't stop killers, murderers, thieves, robbers, cheats, deceivers and bullies........ so God sure doesn't mind a person asking for help of some kind. We all ask for help at different times. We (most of us) just use the word 'beg' for those that we think are weaker than ourselves.

I hate the word 'beggar', but love to be able to give to those who need.

What famous person said :-
'There, but for the grace of God, go I.' ??

Genuine begging is done by holy men and religious purposes, they live a harsh vagrant life in order to see God clearly. Like the sadhus of India or the Cynics of Greece.
These guys are so in to spirituality, material life falls apart, they beg to eat or if they are part of a group they share.

The other beggers the false ones you described are Drug addicts and the
"mumblers" the crazy ones.

There are a lot of reasons to beg, but if you are a beggar you should be a nice Guy and a positive influence(for example Jain monk practice extreme non violence)
But if you are just a walking cancer on mother earth, then its a bad idea to give.

No, they aren't same, Mr Badger :)
After being helped, kind2 will always remain indebted, but kind 1 will not, because such person thinks that.. he was helped because he deserves this thing, after being helped such person will forget that he was begging that time.
In true terms such person is a claimer, not a beggar.

But God always helps Beggars not claimers. Its very hard to be a true beggar. :)

We all are claimers in different ways, and how can a claimer help another claimer ? Its Only God who is helping beggars through different people/ways/sources. :)
I hate the word 'beggar', but love to be able to give to those who need.
I love to be a beggar, and also love to help the those who are really beggars.
For example: A five year child who is crying on the railway platform because he has lost parents/home. :)

A true holy men never begs, A true holy men always work to fill his/her stomach. :) IMO.

If I have the means, and the person seems truly down on luck, I will help...but not because they are begging.

Actually, they are not begging in front of You, They are just begging to God.
And its not YOU who is helping, Its just GOD who is helping through YOU. :)

If I punched the begger in the nose and took what he had already received, did God do the punching and taking?

Let me explain you all this with a story, How all this works :)

One there was a heavy flood in the village, all people were standing on the roofs of their houses, and life boats came to save them, but one man refused to go with the life boat by saying that God will save me.

In a short period water raised more, and now this man was standing on the second floor of house and again one life boat came to save him, but again he refused to go with the life boat by saying that God will save me.

Now, the water level raised more, and this time he was standing on the third floor, and again one life boat came to save his life, but again he refused by saying the same.

Finally, the man died by sinking in the water, and when after his death he was taken to the heaven in front of God, he claimed God, Why didn't you saved my life ?

Said God, Three times I send the life boat for you, but you refused, Now what more can I do for you, Dear ! :D

So this Is how all it works,
And, now you can decide yourself, what if you punched the beggar in the nose :D

Dear chinu..... thankyou for all of your answers.

The child on the platform is not a beggar, but (imo) a pleader. I do not like the word 'beggar' because humans around here are prejudiced against it. But we all need to plead: in legal cases, for business, for fairness, for funds, for a cup of tea, for anything which we need and somehow cannot obtain.

So, I plead with you...... can we all be pleaders, and may we all be heard?

If someone has decided they are undeserving if help then why should I help them?

Hi.....

Have you ever heard of a powerful person, who, having been given a great reward, such as a medal, or an oscar, or whatever, has said 'I am not worthy of this....' ??

And have you ever witnessed a situation, where, having heard that, the awarders then take away the thing which they gave?
