so I see these threads everywhere, What are you drinking, what are you listening to so I figured hey there should be one for this subforum!

What games are you currently playing?

For me,

PC:
Mafia II
Borderlands 2

PS3:
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
Nier
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F
Child of Eden

I don't want to start too many games and never finish anything (have had this problem before).

VtM Bloodlines is a GREAT Game. It's not too difficult either (I'm bad at vidya too but still love playing it), low system requirements. Just if you buy it on steam you have to install patches or else you can't finish it. It's that bugged.

I bought it years ago and tried playing it. Not only did it give me really freaky dreams but I sucked at it. So now I youtube it all the time lol

How is it so far? I bought both of them during the steam sale just because it was 10 bucks for an EE version bundled and the hype they had surrounding them.

IOW, Does it live up to it's hype/praise?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Skyrim. Passing the time till GTA 5.

Searching for a good paralysis spell so I can do some proper Bear tipping in addition to my quests.

Meh, I had a bit more fun when I switched to German voices.

The game is VERY complex, and there's lots of things you have to keep track of in order to be any good. You have three combat stances for different enemy types, silver swords work best against monsters while iron works best against humans/animals (don't ask), there's a very deep alchemy system wherein you gather/buy ingredients to mix into potions that can do the usual healing, etc., but also grant buffs to you, your sword, etc., and in many cases are pretty much required to be any good, even during the first main questing zone.

The setting is depressing in that it's always raining, or always looks like it's going to rain, and there's not a hint of joy outside the tavern.

In other words, this is NOT a game you play just to scratch an itch. This is one of those games that's a commitment.

If you love this kind of thing, and can get past the juvenile depiction of women, it's a fantastic game. I, personally, found it more frustrating than fun, but that's just me. Play it past the first questing zone (a village), and you should have an idea whether you're going to enjoy the game as a whole.

Did anyone ever play Castle of the Winds? I grew up on that game. Is a Windows 3.1 game but it runs on Win 7 if you've got the 32 bit version. You can download it for free and legally since the lovely creator has released it freeware now yay! RGB Classic Games - Castle of the Winds

I scoured all the second-hand game stores in my city of VTM Bloodlines and finally got a copy but one disc was too messed up to work. I used to play it, a long time ago though. It was really good. :)

Maybe its just me who likes the english voices... I think its becauss my voice sounds like Geralt's enlgish voice actor lol.

Basically the game requires you to be like batman. Constantly overprepared in combat and using whatever means can help you win whether it be a lil tactical manuvering or just plain dishonest methods.

Well thats not true the cities are generally vibrant during the day, as for the no hint of I find alot of joy whenever the protagonist Geralt is talking to his friends but maybe I find a bit of happiness talking to my own regardless of the topic of conversation so I guess I'm a little bias.

Juvenile in the first game but a little more pulled back in the second. I always handwave it as people were alot more ready for a tumble in a time where you can die tomorrow and a crazy powerful church that promotes virginity of women above all else doesn't exist.

Now as for baldur's gate let me say it has not age well to me. Combat is VERY complex more so than the witcher. Battles require constant management and the slightest mistake could kill you or your entire party. Also people in your party can die...permanently. The idea of the story and setting are awesome and full of high fantasy goodness but going through the whole thing is kinda too slow paced from combat to dialogue. But many people still give it enormous props as a precursor to the RPGS we enjoy today and that I should have loved it. I looked at it as/ a hut was the predecessor to my two story house but that doesn't mean I would ever want to live in a hut.

It's mostly because the game is a Polish game, but the setting has Germanic folklore elements, so I felt German was most appropriate.

To be fair, I barely played past the Village.

I can't handwave it, because it seems less about an accurate depiction of the time period, and more about pretending to be "mature". But, I haven't played the second game, so all I have is heresay on that one.
