Men's Issues/Masculism DIR

Should we have a Men's Issues DIR?

Now that there is a "Feminism DIR" forum, should there be a complementary forum for Men's Issues or Masculism to balance things out?

Boys can't even play dodgeball any more at school. It has to do with the pussification of this current generation. Guns are scary, no one can take a butt whooping and leave it at that.

Talking on the phone for more than a moment was considered feminine, I guess the current generation did not get that memo either.

Men's issues? Grow a set!

Masculism has two definitions to my understanding. One is compatible with feminism and one seems less so.

One is to reinforce traditinal values of what is seen as "masculine" the other one is simply the advocacy for men's rights.

So basically masculinism is the advocacy for male rights. I dont know if there are many issues to discuss today about it, but seems interesting to hear out the thoughts.

I bet your grandfathers generation said the same thing about your generation. Everyone thinks they are special.
Actually, some times things skip a generation and you have more in common with your Grandfather than you do your Dad.

Wealth many times skips a generation as well.

I think there are too many absent fathers and boys who grew up without a male influence more than anything else.

domestic violence, custodial rights.
At least two right there.

Oh absolutely, there are issues, I just think not many, but then again it would be interesring to have a section and see what comes out :D

There is also what is happening in schools I understand boys are having way more problems than girls and less boys going to college, etc, so that is an interesting topic of conversation.

Maybe you can make a questionaire or something? I am just not too clear on what would make one a masculinist.

AFAIK, advocating for male rights is enough to be a masculist.

That is according to OED.

So by definition, I think most feminists truly would be welcomed in such DIR too.

Feminism and masculism just go hand to hand.

Real men don't have issues.

You are aware that as pertaining to things in the public sphere, "issues" refers to an important topic or problem for discussion, aren't you? Or were you just being sarcastic?

As it stands, there are legal issues facing men with Child custody, divorce, education, false rape charges, etc.

A lot of society's problems tend to get dumped on the next generation. If I had nickel for every time someone told me how screwed up my generation is I wouldn't have to worry about a recession. But the fact is, my generation hasn't had a chance to screw anything up yet. My generation is the people at the start of their careers, or current or recent college students. The average age of CEOs is 50 and the average age of politicians is 60. That is the generation that is screwed up; the generation between 45 and 65.

My generation gets to clean up the mess the current "in power" generation is leaving. And there is another problem my generation has deal with; one of the largest generations in recent history retiring en masse. My generation will probably have to work till we die though. But yeah, we're the pussified generation.

That's a very good point actually. Who raised this "screwed up" generation? ;)
