Which is better Mustard or Ketchup

Both (together). Well, I'm assuming your ketchup tastes like what we call tomato sauce in Australia. The two blended with oil and lemon juice and a small splash of balsamic vinegar is pretty damn nice.

If I had to choose it would depend on what food it was being eaten with.

Do you prefer seeded old-style mustard or the smooth paste ?

i love the smooth paste kind the best! also spicy brown mustard is really good too, it gives hamburger's and hot dog's a little more bite to it.

I use neither, so the question makes a big assumption. I read somewhere the highest selling condiment in America is salsa.

Vanakkam,

It depend on what you it with it. I don't use ketchup often, but when I do it's only with rice or cold chicken. Mustard (good traditionnal mustard with grains! yummy!) with hot meat. I prefer Pesto sauce for pasta....And for fries...Mayonnaise :D

Ketchup goes with everything (Sweden is one of the top countries when it comes to ketchup consumption per capita), but mustard tastes better. So I can't really choose.

When it comes to mustard I prefer the grainy, sweet, spicy kinds.

Bad assumption. Ketchup and mustard in America are akin to a savory, thick, corn-based supersyrup lightly sprinkled with either tomatoes or mustard seeds.

Depends on what food, but most foods go good with ketchup for me.

I always put on ranch

Mustard is nasty.
The prepared mustard off the shelf is nasty. If you make up your own fresh, with just plain cold water and ground mustard seeds, it's pretty good. I prefer horseradish over mustard, however.
