However, her class is making an effort, they pronounce it Mee-chal, so this we are pleased

Yeah, I got as close to Mee-chal as my English-speaking larynx would allow for the last syllable. English, you know is poor in gutturals. That's why we have Johann Sebastian Bock and Lock Ness. And then there is the ever popular Mik-ale for Russian Mikhail.

I don't know. I think it is fairly common as it stands. However, if some guy wants to go by a nickname he can and those are the names I see most going with.

Yeah, I get it, but I figured Mohammad is fairly easy to pronounce. It's a recognizable name.

What about Mike, as was mentioned earlier? It just occurred to me that Mike is short for Michael, there is an example of someone actually changing the name from one language to the next.

Moe for Mohammad. Mike is short for Michael in the west, or English.

/edit/ I just noticed that you're in the U.S.A. :D
Oh yeah there is a Mo, just no e, what is fun is seeing how many Mohammad's there are in Islamic countries and seeing who actually is called Mohammad :D I think half !after all it is a high honor name to give your son, so its highly repetitive.
I watched a show a while ago where someone was searching for a man named ahmad in a village, arriving at the village he asked the first man he saw if he knew of this man called ahmad, he said yes I am him, he didn't fit the description so he asked more men who all said " yes I am he" come to find out everyone in the village was named Ahmad ! the only defining factors in their names was their fathers name included, problem is fathers had many sons too :D was a true story !

In our islamic tradition we are taught its good to call your first born son Mohammed maybe thats why. Ahmed and Mohammed are the same name they both derive from the Root words HMD and have the same meaning if i am correct.

The Lost One
If you are going to question Jesus being Jew or not, then it would be quite acceptable to question whether Muhummad being an "Ishmaelite"?

Is it true that he was descendant of Abraham and Ishmael, or is it simply Muslim propaganda?

Jesus' ancestry may be debatable, but so is Muhummad's ancestry.

They went over the top when they compared Garuda feeding on snakes to a 747 refueling.

ANCIENT ALIENS Aliens And Monsters - YouTube

Hindu scripture describes an enormous flying creature called a Garuda that shook the ground when it landed on Earth. Is it possible that this monster was actually a misinterpreted alien craft?
