Yesterday, I was under the weather and spent the entire day in my recliner watching the boob tube. Being bored out of my mind, I was channel surfing and came upon a new game show called "Normal or not Normal?" The premise was to see if the contestants could guess if most people in the USA consider a particular behavior to be normal or non-normal. Then the contestants were asked if they ever did such an thing. One of the activities was skinny dipping. I won't divulge the result yet, but I am curious as to what RFers think.

1) Do you think most people consider skinny dipping to be normal?

2) Have you ever gone, or would you ever go, skinny dipping?
3) If yes,
A) only alone or with others of the same sex
B) With others of the opposite sex.

1. Not from my rather limited discussions with people on this topic, interestingly enough.
2. No, yes.
3. Either.

I think most people put it into that category of harmless fun which is also taboo, which makes it that much more fun. :D I'd also suspect that most people have done it at least once in their lives.

I have skinny dipped, and I love it. I'm also rather in love with water, so maybe that has something to do with it too.

I've only skinny dipped alone, with girlfriends, and with my partner at the time. So, I have yet to swim with a member of the opposite sex who is not my boyfriend. But I am certainly game!

BTW: what does this have to do with sexuality?
Depending on one's view of being naked in front of others---either same sex or opposite sex---I saw the possibility of sexuality in the activity; however, after I posted the OP I actually did begin to wonder if I had posted this in the right forum. But, while I don't see a necessary sexual component to skinny dipping, I do see where others might feel there is. Therefore I'm content to leave it where it is, and if someone sees no sexuality in skinny dipping, so be it.

It seems to me that most people are likely to think skinny dipping -- including skinny dipping in mixed company -- is normal. That might not have been the case 40 years ago, but I think today most people see it as normal.

Having said that, I strongly believe most people are dead wrong about skinny dipping. Skinny dipping is an overtly sexual act that is very likely to lead to dangerous promiscuity in the bushes. Merely place in close proximity a nude man and woman and -- before you know it -- they have known each other! And most likely known each other out of wedlock! And then they will do it again. And again! After which, it's not long before entire civilizations collapse.

For want of a knot the thong was lost
For want of a thong her innocence was lost
For want of her innocence . . . .

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Yes, it's normal. Yes, I've done it. Yes, with the opposite sex.

That being said, I think it's overrated.

All daughters need to lose their virginity sometime. Might as well be near some clean water when it happens.
