if you have no interest in a thread, don't post there.

So what the !@%@# are you doing in this thread?

posting in others threads with rude comments then making a thread to complain about it is just sad,

Sooooo, was that an apology?

And no sentences were removed from my post,

Didn't say they were removed. I was just pointing out that if you wanted it to make sense you'd need to add a sentence or too, you know: like you just did to my post?

simply put if you believe your idea is the only possible and anything a newer guy says is always wrong you have blind faith

And if you believe the sky is orange with purple polka dots, you should probably take another look.

since you aren't able to discuss the other beliefs without making rude comments you shouldnt debate them at all since you cant move your position at all.

"Move your position" means what??

im willing to discuss ideas openly, but on a forum that allows veterans to make troll threads like this, or make rude comments in threads they don't like isn't a good place for any real discussion, just because you think you're smart doesn't give you the right to be rude to anyone else.

This is a debate forum, not a sanctimonious lecture forum. If you believe someone's violated the rules report it. If not, coming in to someone else's thread and giving everybody a good finger-wagging isn't another option. Either discuss the topic in the OP, or go post somewhere else.

Infact the entire reason so many religions exist is none can be proven as fact, so because of this its ignorant to say to anyone they are wrong since you cant prove that either way.

See my last comment.

It's the same on every forum like this, people do not read old threads or look something up to see if it's been posted before, thus there is a constant stream repetitive detritus from newer members, going over the same old topics again and again in the face of the older entrenched members who are all too familiar with the pattern and sometimes eager to stick the boot in on the clueless n00bz. Some new member a while back who didn't last long did write something good though, s/he said that all debate here was fruitless and that nobody ever really learns anything or changes their minds about the issues discussed because "words without authority are just dribble...", unquote. If s/he is right, and I'm sure there are many who would agree, then we shouldn't be bothered by the fact that newbies aren't interested in the wealth of information and opinion on the forum, because it doesn't matter anyway, does it?

It never ceases to amaze me. Hundreds of forum members. Thousands of post. Centuries of scientific investigation. Many more centuries of philosophical enquiry and religious discourse.

Yet ...
Periodically some newbie drops buy to grace us with what s/he is somehow convinced to be a brilliant theory or even more brilliant retort, only to author the most time-worn and thread-bare post indistinguishable from its countless predecessors.
What are they thinking?
You've been there before.
Yer just too old & enfeebled to remember.
It's how we all get started....thinking that we have brilliant original thoughts.
So we should cut newbies some slack.

I have to ask, why do you veterans assume i didn't search before posting?

I don't care enough to argue with staff members when they seem to change infact im disgusted with his god complex, just because someone has a different belief doesn't make them wrong and you right, and doesn't give you the right to make rude comments in there thread

THEN make a thread like this to complain even more...

as you said so nicely "Either discuss the topic in the OP, or go post somewhere else." like the OP should have done before spamming up a thread i made because he didn't like the idea we were discussing

If the belief is that you can show up here and right off the bat start telling everyone else in here how they should behave, yeah, sorry, that makes you wrong. Makes you a few other things I can't go into detail about too.

By the way: I didn't create this thread and I've never even posted in any of your threads, much less trolled them.

You're hallucinating. :)

I don't think you're going to do well here.

im referring to the Op... the guy who made this thread after I made the paradox one.
The op made posts that added nothing to the discussion, with like 5 word answers. after a few random comments that implied he didnt like the topic he told me to go read without any sourcing and then made this thread.

if you cant add something to a discussion why make posts over and over that literally add nothing and spam up a thread let alone adding facepalms to people who do want to reply.

You said "Either discuss the topic in the OP, or go post somewhere else."
so does that not also mean the op should have followed that idea or just new people?

This thread actually happens to be about annoying things new people do. :)

And the Op didn't mention any names, so you coming in here and crying foul is completely out-of-line and off-topic.

Now, I'm not going to argue with you about any of this here. If you want to complain about something general, start your own thread. If you want to complain about someone in particular, either make a report or start a thread in Site Feedback.

Sorry, but that's all the attention you're getting from me.

I applaud mindful ignorance, but ignorant people who come to preach are rarely if ever capable of listening or willing to be taught.
The veterans are just as preachy as the newbies.
Nay....even more so!
They will bluster with confidence & a sense of entitlement, knowing how to flout the rules.

I didn't realise the comments of new people was also a conversation for a religious discussion area either, seems like an odd place to put it really unless you want the person you are talking about to see it.

Think about it from my view

I do some googling, find this forum and sign up

-I do a search and cant find the topic im after so create my own thread.
-a veteran of the forum then adds pointless comments to the thread that wind me up and provide nothing to it.
-He then goes and creates a thread to complain about the thread I just made which everyone else seems to be fine to discuss.
-Staff members then allow all of this and join in complaining about new players in a very public setting when Ive yet to do anything wrong.

How do you think I find this forum based off that experience?

as a newbie I find your attitudes interesting... you imply by refusing the ideas of the newbie that you yourselves know everything as fact meaning the newbies views are always wrong

surely its naive to decide that any "newbie" to a forum which isnt exactly used by everyone already will always be less experienced then someone who has used the forum for a while?

I didn't get that from this thread at all. What I sensed was a bit of exasperation at the same scenario constantly repeating itself.

It is always prudent to get the lay of the land first when coming to a new community before jumping in with both feet.

Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it.

And in general, you are doomed to repeat it even if you do study history.

Quick poll! How many people think I fit this category?

It happens. I think it's cute.

But I know I have a different emotional reaction than most folks. I tend to see them as cute fluffy bunnies. :bunny:
