It never ceases to amaze me. Hundreds of forum members. Thousands of post. Centuries of scientific investigation. Many more centuries of philosophical enquiry and religious discourse.

Yet ...
Periodically some newbie drops buy to grace us with what s/he is somehow convinced to be a brilliant theory or even more brilliant retort, only to author the most time-worn and thread-bare post indistinguishable from its countless predecessors.
What are they thinking?

You know I was a newbie not long ago. Much of the ideas I came up with where old ideas yet I believe they were new until some members lead me to Books and Sites I could learn from.

As long as they are willing to listen they can be taught. Try teaching what do you have to lose.

that we want to discuss our views without necroing an old thread?

I didnt realise you were an omnipotent creature who could decide who can discuss what beliefs on a public forum.

since belief is just that you cant say for sure your belief is the one fact so your view is naive and somewhat bias

No you weren't. You've always been here.

Much of the ideas I came up with where old ideas yet I believe they were new until some members lead me to Books and Sites I could learn from.

Which shows two things:

---you can be led.
---you can learn.

As long as they are willing to listen they can be taught. Try teaching what do you have to lose.

Patience. And hope.

Would it hurt them to lurk a bit before posting?

Probably. When you're carrying as much knowledge and certainty as so many of our newbies are, it can be hard to contain. It may not even be healthy to try. If they don't let off at least some of that pressure, their heads could get even bigger.

as a newbie I find your attitudes interesting... you imply by refusing the ideas of the newbie that you yourselves know everything as fact meaning the newbies views are always wrong

surely its naive to decide that any "newbie" to a forum which isnt exactly used by everyone already will always be less experienced then someone who has used the forum for a while?

It wouldn't surprise you to know that you probably triggered old Jayhawker to make this thread, right?

True, true. It's just basic science. What we could do is decrease the temperature... that might work.

I find that many in the forum are quite helpful but of course there are just as many whom are close minded to any new ideas. I suppose there will always be a mix.

Yes im sure i triggered it with my idea that if we are created in gods image then possibly god and the devil had more im common then opposite.

am i allowed to ask such things? I should be
should "veterans" be allowed to be ***** to new people for having alternative beliefs? not really
does registering on a forum a long time ago make you any more right about the god answer? doubtful since the pope isnt on here.
if i found something similar to my thoughts and necroed the thread would i break common forum laws? yes so creating a thread is the only option.

if you aren't civilised enough to ignore threads you aren't interested in then you aren't smart enough to discuss religious beliefs maturely.

elitist behaviour on a subject noone can prove they have the right answer, thats probably the definition of blind faith

awkwardly the entire op argument is flawed... since we dont have all the answers and nothing is fact then until a time it is all new ideas are possibly the correct answer until proven differently, so that newbie could be closer then you are in your bias and arrogant view

Everything is new to everyone at some time.

People that are experienced in a certain area often take for granted how experienced they are in a certain area. But at some point, they learned it. Some are in a more fortunate position to learn certain things quicker than others. People that chill in one spot, doing the same thing, year after year, may take it for granted when someone with little knowledge of that area comes in for a visit.

A good teacher understands more than just the subject they're teaching. They also understand the level of knowledge of the people they're teaching, and how they themselves came to learn of that knowledge.

Exactly! Congratulations on being one of those rare newbies who's actually willing to learn something.

Of course, because, as I'm always fond of reminding everyone I meet, RF is the one and only source of usable information on the web, or anywhere for that matter.

True, true. It's just basic science. What we could do is decrease the temperature... that might work.

Increasing the temperature to the boiling point is more fun though.

am i allowed to ask such things?

Sure.

should "veterans" be allowed to be ***** to new people for having alternative beliefs?

Sure. Anyone here can 5 astericks all they like.

does registering on a forum a long time ago make you any more right about the god answer?

No, it actually makes you God.

doubtful since the pope isnt on here.

Don't be too sure.

if i found something similar to my thoughts and necroed the thread would i break common forum laws? yes so creating a thread is the only option.

That or reading the old one.

if you aren't civilised enough to ignore threads you aren't interested in then you aren't smart enough to discuss religious beliefs maturely.

That's not true at all: some of our rudest members are also some of our smartest.

elitist behaviour on a subject noone can prove they have the right answer, thats probably the definition of blind faith

I think there may be a couple of sentences missing in that paragraph.

awkwardly the entire op argument is flawed... since we dont have all the answers and nothing is fact then until a time it is all new ideas are possibly the correct answer until proven differently, so that newbie could be closer then you are in your bias and arrogant view

It isn't really a matter of the how right the answers are so much as how interesting the questions are.

30 years ago my boss at work was very ambitious. He wanted some exposure (publicity) for himself. But he used to bemoan "My bosses are bad. They do not expose me."

And then he got exposed.

if you have no interest in a thread, don't post there.
posting in others threads with rude comments then making a thread to complain about it is just sad,

And no sentences were removed from my post, simply put if you believe your idea is the only possible and anything a newer guy says is always wrong you have blind faith since you aren't able to discuss the other beliefs without making rude comments you shouldnt debate them at all since you cant move your position at all.

im willing to discuss ideas openly, but on a forum that allows veterans to make troll threads like this, or make rude comments in threads they don't like isn't a good place for any real discussion, just because you think you're smart doesn't give you the right to be rude to anyone else.

Infact the entire reason so many religions exist is none can be proven as fact, so because of this its ignorant to say to anyone they are wrong since you cant prove that either way.
