Can a Christian support war?

when can a Christian support war or should they be opposing it at all times?

In some instances it could be argued that war is needed to prevent deaths but how about when they are mainly political in cause.

for example: Vietnam, Iraq, Korea, Somalia, Cambodia, Nicaragua.

what would the Christian stance be on these kinds of war?

How about places like North Korea, Serbia, Soviet Union, Rwanda etc.. if the leaders there, were or are, so bad, then why not just go in and kick their butts?

The christians should oppose war all the times, but they don't and rarely will.

There is still a belief out there that good can (or must) destroy evil. That is their error....

Do you have verses to back that statement up? I'm not disagreeing with you, but it seems like you should have some Biblical references for that statement.

Answer is No. Christians must remain politically neutral at all times under all circumstances even if their life is threatened.

This is why Jehovahs Witnesses do not vote and do not salute the flag or sing national anthems. We do remain neutral because we are a worldwide christian nation and a nation is how we view ourselves no matter what part of the world we live in.

That's somewhat ridiculous. Why can't you show pride in your country and still be a Christian?

because 'countries' are a man made construct. But christians viewed themselves as subjects of an entirely different government. They did not view the country they lived in as their authority but rather they looked to Gods kingdom as their nation.

in the future, Gods kingdom will be the only ruling authority and mankind will be united as one nation...'country' will not exist. So we have to be willing to remove national boarders and live as one people right now.

The late writings of Leo Tolstoy contain much of what I think supports peace and opposes war... particularly his "The Kingdom of God is within you".

Leo Tolstoy - The Kingdom of God is Within You

Both Gandhi and Martin Luther KIng appear to have been influenced by Tolstoy.

I particularly applaud the efforts of the Brethren and Quakers who opposed military service..

Baha'is have supported the establishment of a representative world government and international court of arbitration as institutions that could avoid war...and this since around 1868 - 1871.

I'm not sure that I've ever been in a position where I really support war. War is ugly. I may support reasoning behind dispute, but I don't support war. I support decision making that prevents conflict. But, people are going to do horrible things to victimize others and to protect innocent people, war is an unfortunate reality at times. My religious views don't come into play, really in terms of war.

I support International Humanitarian Law. That's one thing that I do believe in, in terms of war.

Shouldn´t , but they have and probably will continue doing so.

In the crusades, they supported children going to the war.

About patriotism, yes, it is completely ridiculous.

It generaly means celebrating customs thar you really don´t care about and are outdated, or the same with ways of dressing, food, etc.

Is putting an overly importance in either land or completely irrelevant little things. Most often than not it is either completely pointless or it even evolves into chauvinism.

Or it could even be a replacement for religion

Anyaway this is probably off-topic.
