Does Muslim pray to God more than Christian

I talk to a Muslim and he argue with me that the pray more than Christians, what do you think?
I agree with him that from Physical point of view yes, but from spiritual I do not agree.

Muslim prayer is not only physical.. But spiritual also..

In fact, some people translate the Arabic word used, to "connection" instead of "prayer". B/c the word comes from a root word which means connection or something to that extent - I dunno Arabic though.

Plus Muslims that are particular about their religion try to be 'conscious' of God throughout the day and read the Quran daily.

To be honest I feel that Muslims are more spiritual than Christians, and I'm not just saying that cause I'm a Muslim.

And another thing is that we are able to pray the way our prophet (peace be upon him) taught us and informed us because it is recorded. So even there it is more spiritual because we are praying the way God's prophet did.

And in the 'prayer' some of the things we say are chapter or verses from the Quran in Arabic, which is the verbatim Word of God. So we are reciting the Word of God, not just "inspired" word of God like some Christians say the Bible is, but direct revelation. So in this way we feel 'closer' to God as well then just reading words of a man that could be incorrect even if inspired.

And one of the positions that you get to is prostrating with your forehead on the ground. This is a position of humility and submission to God - quite like what Jesus (peace be upon him) did in the Bible.

And we have recorded supplications that the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did, some of which were revealed by angel Gabriel as well so this helps us get closer to God too.

I'm pretty sure also that more Muslims go to the Mosque than Christians go to the Church.

Muslim are connected to god not only physically, but also spiritually.

They used to say all the time during the day that there is no god but allah, which is the oneness of god,no father,no son and nothing can be compared to him.

Even when they are dying and at their last breath they will say, there is no god,but only one,if their son died, they will be sad and cry,
but they will say there is no god but allah,he brought our son to life and he has chosen him to die, that is the complete submission
to the creator, and that is the difference between the believers whom obey god's command as the angel do,and the disbelievers whom
disobey god's command as the satan did.

The difference between human and angels are the free will, Angels are created to obey god blindly, but human and gin got
the free will and the satan was among the gin whom disobey god and some gin still obey god and regarded as submitters "muslims".

Names are not of importance in religion but the meaning of it and your acts.
you can call your self a believer instead of muslim,so what is important is
your faith and that what islamic religion teach, how to trust god and to be
close to him even that you know that you will die after a minute.

But if someone choose to believe in god from weakness, just to know that you will die,
then you will say,my god i believe in you now, then as i know, god will not accept it and
he will be regarded as a disbeliever and should be punished accordingly for being so.

One example is pharoan who was a disbeliever and he was going after prophet moses (peace be upon him) to kill him,
then god decided to end his life and let him as an example for all the next generation,he said in his last breath as god
informed us in the quran that "i believe that god do exist",but god refused his repentance and he will be punished accordingly.

there is no excuses to escape from god's punishment as islamic religion teach, except
if the messege wasnt recieved and that was the request of Mohamed (peace be upon him)
before the last hour of his death when he was being informed that his mission is finished,
he requested from the people to be gathered and he informed them to keep sticking
on their faith after his death, and the audience started to cry as they did know that he
is saying to them good bye,he gave them some advices, such as to care about women and
to treat them well, and that believers should continue on the teaching and spreading of the messege.

Xtians are enjoined to "pray continually." The way I see it, God is available to us, not only spiritually but physically -- through the people we meet and the work we do, and the nature we enjoy. Each activity can be sacramental. Our very breathing is an act of prayer.

Since when was prayer a ******* contest?
It's all a contest -- didn't you get the memo?: Who has the most adherents, the fastest growth rate, the best laws, the least apostates. At least, that seems to be the opinion on the forum from those in the East... ;)

I suppose that puts us on equal footing since the Christian is told to pray constantly.

I suppose that the person was referring to physical presentation in prayer ie on knees with head bowed to the ground. It is highly unlikely that protestants pray much in the physical sense. Catholics might be found kneeling in prayer daily but not likely three times a day.

That is quite amusing since Muslims don't even believe in the Paraclete. My experience is that it varies among the adherents.

Christianity isn't as walled in as Islam. Say a man visits a grave ten times and spits on it. does he show more respect than a man who goes once and places flowers on it?

The last memo I got said that: Eph 6:12 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

The person who seems to be more religious from the physical point of view, do more drama than a true prayer.

That is the pot calling the kettle black since there are just as many Muslims attacking Christians. I believe that in each case they are acting against God's will in doing so.

That reminds me of my sojourn with the Society of Friends (Quakers). We had one hour to listen to God but I found God not very talkative and ended up thinking about things like what I was going to have for dinner.

Ok so if there is a muslim attacking ''Christians'' therefore you should do the same? seems illogical..

The OP who is a Christian was just making a statement what seems valid therefore not attacking anyone so why should you attack Muslims on this Topic?
Is it a insult to say that muslims in general pray more and if so it was a Christian who started the Subject.

I think you and your friend should try to expand your conversation topics.

I personally don't understand the needs for prayer.

So I don't why people think that praying MORE is "best" or "better".

Does God really care how much you pray?

I would have thought that praying with sincerity or heart-felt thingy (sorrow, repentance/guilt, or thankfulness, etc) would mean more than the quantities of prayers.

If you simply praying by reciting some verses from respective scriptures or from prayer books, then how is that prayer "genuine"? Surely even criminals could recite the whole surah from Qur'an or chapter from the Bible. Such recitals are mechanical...more like lip-service than anything genuine.
