Hi there, liberals! I’m still waiting for feedback on how your boycott against liberal radio host Mike Malloy is going. Malloy decided to make sport of people killed by the recent Midwestern tornadoes, mocking those ignorant Bible Belt types for getting “smashed into little grease spots on the pavement” by the God they worship. I wrote of the incident in the full confidence that people who wanted Rush Limbaugh hounded off the air for declaring that the public demands of a 30-year-old professional leftist activist for $1000 per year of birth control from Georgetown University were tantamount to her asking to be treated like a “****” would leap into action against Malloy. I was just curious to know how it’s going. Have you gotten a list of his advertisers yet?

Surely insulting the victims of tornadoes as a gang of ignorant Bible-thumping hayseeds who have no reason to be surprised when God “smashes them into little grease spots on the pavement” ought to do it. Would someone from the Outrage Brigades forward us a list of Malloy’s advertisers, when you’re finished contact them to demand a boycott? We’d be especially interested to know if any of them are former advertisers on the Limbaugh show.

One of the miraculous survivors is a toddler whose entire family was smashed into grease spots for Mike Malloy’s amusement, including her mother and 2-month-old sister. The toddler herself is in “extremely critical condition” with “a lot of injuries to her head,” according to her grandfather.

But Mike Malloy’s proud sponsors can laugh about their deaths with a clear conscience, because none of them were leftist agitators, and he didn’t use the word “****” when joking about the tragedy. It’s funny when presumptively religious people in flyover country die, right, liberals?

His 'sentiment' is sickening. I would agree that attributing anything to god is unintelligent, being an atheist, and I've asked Christians where was their god in all of this, but this is just outright nonsense. There's a difference between a liberal looking at a natural disaster and using it as a backdrop to question the existence of god, and just outright blaming the victims for the events. Somebody needs to kick this guy around a little bit.

I think his comments sound rather tactless, but consistent with the idea that God's in control of things in the world.

I mean take this bit from the quoted article:

If we take a "miracle" as direct intervention by God, then this implies that God was actively deciding who should live and die that day. Even if he "saved" this girl, he didn't save her parents though he could have. He also didn't prevent her from being harmed, even though he could have.

I think there's a certain cognitive dissonance in the point of view that looks at an event like this and concludes "miracle!"

I find the way he presented his arguement to be completely insensisitive and disgusting by talking about people being smashed little grease spots on the pavement, so soon after the tragedies of the tornadoes. I think if he wanted to question "where was God" there was a much better way to do it.

"During my program last Friday night, I commented on the potential for destruction caused by the tornadoes that were moving through the south with historic fury.

First and foremost, I sincerely apologize for the inflammatory language that I used, and for the anger and pain that came as a result of my comments.

Those comments, as published on various blog sites, were lifted out of context from a larger point I was making about the hypocrisy of many political leaders and commentators who refuse to acknowledge science, logic and fact in assessing disasters such as this one.

That said, my language was unnecessarily harsh in light of the lives that would be lost later that evening. I have nothing but the most heartfelt sympathy for those families who were devastated by those tragic storms.

I will say again I am sincerely sorry for the pain and anger my comments evoked. I made a mistake, I was wrong, and I will not let it happen again.

Contrast this with Rush Limbaugh's chowder-headed "apology" which, while similar, misses the whole point of his offensive misunderstanding of the importance and uses of birth control.

"For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.

I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit? In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices."

Your point wasn't clear for your OP. You asked for thoughts on his comment... well, my thought was that he spoke to a valid point in a less than tactful way.

Although when I think about it, his language was no more graphic than many parts of the Bible: "happy is he who dashes children on the rocks", etc.

Considering that, I find a Christian backlash to his comments strange. I mean, if they accept that language in other contexts, it suggests to me that their real problem is with his portrayal of God as the bad guy.

The backlash was just an attempt to paint some liberal, didn't matter whom, with the same brush Limbaugh painted himself. Although a failed attempt on several levels, at least it's an amusing one.

I hear him all the time. He angers easily, he's rude and talks over callers, but in this case he's not insulting the victims so much as mocking faith itself and the idea that God protects His faithful.
