I think I've figured Christian hell out!

Jesus himself said in scripture that you will only be measured by the same measure you use to measure.

Do not judge, lest you be judged. For, by the judgement you render you will be judged, and, by the standard you use to measure you will be measured. -- Matthew 7:1-2

Would not hell only be for those that apply the concept?

Fatalist. Christian. Pacifist.
I think the idea of Hell can only exist for those that use it to measure others.

After all, Jesus himself said you will only be measured by that which you use to measure others.

Jesus Himself used it to measure.

Jesus made it clear that if we judge others harshly, so he will judge us harshly. Best to not be too quick to throw people to hell in our own minds.

No, I think your way off base and reaching with this one LOL :p

Since the mythical "place" hell evolved and little is really said of hell that is relaiable and doesnt contradict itself.

even for literalist this would be reaching

Yes that scripture should hold true when judged. One stipulation that could come up is whether or not your a believer and if you've been told about Jesus and deny, some argue that is a sentence straight to hell. However if you are sincere and with the no judgement clause, it is possible that the judge will see past any sins based on your own good nature towards others. Still kinda sketchy so I may need to consult a lawyer on this.

I think it would be funny if you get to the big pearly gates and the real test was if you didnt believe, the whole goal was not to be suckered in and live a good life without having to follow ancient mans mythical perceptions. :D ah but that would almost make me agnostic :angel2:

I actually agree to this but to some extent that is important to take into consideration:

Even when a person that believes in hell says it´s "for ever" or "eternal" when he says it and judges others for that label, his grudge or his conviction cannot be as infinite as the time measure he wants to apply.

so yes, I would believe that believing in hell would make a hellish punishment for those who do which would feel 100% like an eternity in their afterlife.... but then it will not be.

You're not taking into account that Jesus specifically says to his own disciples its better for them to cut their hand or foot off, or poke their eye out, than use them in a way that causes them to go to hell. There's obviously an objective standard. He also says anyone who says "You fool" is in danger of hellfire. So regardless, there's an objective standard. As for the judgment being based on how one judges, I believe Jesus is also referring to Earthly circumstance. Such as, one who is extremely critical of say, looks, will be judged by their looks by others in this life. And perhaps the next. Additionally, the concept of "hell" in ancient Israelite belief was often held to be purgatorial and temporary, so that one's punishments in between lives were based on how they themselves acted.

That depends. When you insult someone (at least in those times) you are very angry with him and want him wrong at least emotionally. So that makes sense for that attitude to be something to be careful about. If you want damage to others, you´ve recieved that in heaven according to what Jesus taught. About the eye and the foot, they also may be "sining" because of causing you to do something against the "love" to others, which were his main commandments.

so not loving others is a problem naturaly, causes carelessness and posibility of prefering your pleasure even if it causes them harm. Which would probably not been measured well back at ya.

Because fear is a motivating factor, especially when it has to do with the mystical afterlife. It's easy to use fear to control people. Controlling people = power and money. Someone's gotta' pay for the minister's house, the decon's car, or the pope's hat, right?
