The soul

Do you think our souls are preexistent or do they mature over the course of our lives, through our experiences? Why or why not?

The soul is the joint creation of the truth seeking finite mind and the truth giving eternal spirit of God dwelling in the finite mind. It is potentially eternal with a birth date. The finite mind has the choice to abort the soul. If the finite mind is fully cooperate with the eternal Spirit of God, the soul will survive to maturity.

Definitely mature, decay, adapt, and die.

So you think the soul dies with the body? And the reason why you believe they mature is because we do likewise in the flesh? So you think that they are analogous (the soul and the flesh) in ways of development?

I wonder if any of them think about it now and are insecure about it?
I think they forgot...or shut out the horror of a soulless existence and if ever reminded of it will collapse on the floor and foam at the mouth. :D

I think the soul dies multiple times throughout one's life. I equate the soul with the self-image. When the self is rattled or shattered, the soul is reborn. Existential crises happen multiple times throughout the life of the body.

My belief:

"Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these kings; nor in the future shall any of us cease to be." - Bhagavad Gita 2.12

I think it still has to be proven such a concept exist

How would you define soul? Is there anything tangible that you have that would make you believe in a portion of the soul? Consider your own psyche. Is there any way you could use the word soul where it relates to something that you can grasp with belief?

By what do you mean "fully cooperate with the eternal spirit of God, the soul will survive to maturity"? Does that mean I must prescribe to some religion or text?

I don't believe the soul pre-existed, but that at conception each soul comes into existence and then lives on forever, either in "everlasting life or shame and everlasting contempt." Daniel 12:2a

So the death is symbolic in reflection to what occurs through a traumatic experience? Do you think the soul changes in any way when this death occurs?

I equate the "soul" with mind or consciousness. I believe that physical, chemical, and biological interactions produce the body. The body produces the brain and the brain produces the consciousness. When we die, the consciousness collapses into the brain, the brain into the body, and the body back into primal nature.

The mind can change faster than the brain and the body, so that's why it should be in charge of the brain and body. It can mature spiritually over time by expanding itself to include others and the greater world around it.
