Hatred of Christianity!

-Peacemaker-

John 3:19 "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil."

Here's the interesting thing, people rarely admit when something they love is evil, not even to themselves. They hide behind their own flimsy rationalizations for why it's o.k. to do what they want to do.

There really is no evidence that Hellenistic religions (there are more than one) continued non-stop to the present day. There is a complete lack of evidence that is continued at all. What we do have evidence of is it dying out, and then later, like a handful of other religions, was recreated relatively recently.

In fact, I can't even find anything after the 9th century, and those sources are questionable. The modern Hellenistic religion is a recreation. There really is just no evidence that it continued from ancient times.

As for the Christians you have spoken to, they are a minority. You trying to claim otherwise simply is ridiculous. That, or when you speak to them you have been insulting, like calling them all arrogant.

You trying to deny the continued worship the Gods after Christianity became supreme I'm afraid is not very convincing since I have comrades who can trace their lineages for centuries and have their own personal histories written down

Just because you have never heard of us does not mean we do not exist. We have always existed. I'm sorry but nothing you say is truthful.

Where are Hellenes now? they are in America, Canada and Britian too just like Asatru are in those countries. Don't insult me by calling my faith "recreational"you know nothing of it.

The Gods have always been worshipped, yeah sorry I don't have a big opinion on you Christians but like I said I am just saying my experiences

Because plenty of Christians have committed their share of evil. There is no sense in denying it.

I disagree with plenty of accusations (like the Crusades; as I feel people just regurgitate nonsense and haven't done some in depth reading on it) but I've been inclined to say "Yes we did it!" Because such a conversation will go no where but that they want you to admit how evil you and your organization is (I guess that makes them saints).

What I wholeheartedly disagree with is any statement of fact that X belief is evil. For one, most non-theist (and even theist) don't know two licks about of exegesis, theology, philosophy, or anything of that sorts. If you want to see how childish their interpretations can get just go check out Christopher Hitchens.

Attacking the establishment of Christianity for the evil that man has in his heart is the same as attacking science and medicine for the evil being done in its name.

Do you mean hatred of Christianity or hatred of Christians? If some people hate Christianity then they are really only hating a conceptual framework. It doesn't do much harm really since our "reality-windows" are constantly changing anyway. If some people really do hate specific Christians for some reason then they really just hate specific individuals, and should turn that scowl into a smile. Life's too short to be ****** off all the time. :beach:

Christianity is one of the most strongest love based religions I know of and is why it is always pesecuted and in the state of resistance against hatred

Matthew 5:39

But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Why do people hate Christianity? It't because Christianity demands that they stop trusting in the gods they worship which in America is usually sex and self-sufficiency.

so what can you do with god that sets you apart from unbelievers in the real world?

I don't hate christianity. My family and most of my friends are christians. They just know better than to push it on me. That's why I love them. :p

Maybe Christians have such a arrogant attitude, that is why they are not liked

Most Christians I have known are NOT arrogant. Some are, there is no doubt, but you can't put something like that onto an entire group of millions of people.

Most Christians are moderate, and maybe attend church if it's in their schedule.

I don't see them as arrogant on a theological level, maybe on a personal level some might be.

Then there are evangelicals....

I'm not trying to deny, I am flat out denying. There simply is no historical evidence of such a thing. For instance, when Christians went underground (for a relatively short period), they left us with a huge amount of evidence that they still were around.

And now we have a Hellenistic tradition (again, which one) that supposedly remained underground for over a millennia, yet shows no such evidence of having existed. Instead, we see evidence for the tradition dying out, and then later on being reconstructed. And really, that makes the most logical sense as we have seen a recent resurgence of reconstructed religions. It falls under neopaganism.
Just because you have never heard of us does not mean we do not exist. We have always existed. I'm sorry but nothing you say is truthful.
I don't doubt you exist. In fact, I have heard quite a bit of a reconstructed Hellenistic religion. However, there simply is not much history to it.

I know quite a bit about Hellenistic religions. I have studied Hellenistic religions for quite a bit of time now simply for a better understanding of the world that surrounded Jesus and Early Christianity. I also know quite a bit about the recreational religions that have emerged in the last few decades. I also know that they don't have any real evidence showing that they are a continuation from the old religions, especially when most members are not even practicing the religion like the ancients did.
The Gods have always been worshipped, yeah sorry I don't have a big opinion on you Christians but like I said I am just saying my experiences
If you want people to believe that the gods have always been worshipped (it is a small g for gods. God refers to one specific god), you need to show evidence.

And I am sorry for your experiences with some Christians. However, insulting them all simply is ridiculous.

Why do so many people want to point the finger at Christianity for the evil done in its name instead of pointing the finger at the human heart? Pointing the finger at Christians is the same as pointing the finger at scientists saying look how evil science is pushing these drugs that can destroy lives on every T.V. comercial that pops up.
Hey Got a sniffle? try Snif away!
Side effects include headaches, nashau, depression, liver disease, flat tires on car,dog runs away, wars and rumors of wars.........etc.
science is evil and slowly murdering people through chemical processes all in the name of the almighty dollar!
Can't point the finger at science for the evil in mans heart.
Those who are full of evil and hatred ,greed will spread it by anymeans necessary and they will use the Bible, science,or any other means necessary to justify themselves.
Its not the institution of Christianity that is evil just like its not science or medicine that is evil.Pharmaceutical companies used mans faith in science(and in doctors with dumb commercials) as a means to push there selfish agendas for profits.
I don't blame scientists or consider them evil even from all of the horror and devestation that has been done through its creations.

I think Scripture answers this:

Proverbs 29:27 The righteous detest the dishonest; the wicked detest the upright.

Matthew 24:9 "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.

John 15:19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

Our hearts are blinded by sin and desire the deceptions of Satan. In one word to answer all your questions above - sin.

Yea, that somehow exempts Christianity from rational thought.

i know what you mean...
but for anyone, christian or not, to think they are in a position to vote against the inalienable rights of others are arrogant.

why do i take offense to this?

well maybe if christians read and followed what jesus told them to do in luke 6 they wouldn't be so hated...interesting predicament.

John 15:19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
interesting being that 1/3 of the world is christian

If you've hung out in forums as long as I have, I think you'd be inclined to see just where the hate is coming from.

Like homophobia, all those hate signs you see in protests like "God hates Gays", "Gods hates Sweden", "God hates Australia" God hates America" "God hates atheists". Not to mention the smouldering hatred for Jews which lasted for centuries through indoctrinating people by labelling Jews as "Christ Killers" which culminated in the Holocaust. Martin Luther was every bit as much an anti-Semitist as Hitler was but the biggest difference he did not have the gas. Yes I know where the hate is coming from.
