My experience being in a gang

Glow

Agonizing Demise
Interesting thread here. I am from Flint, Michigan. Gangs are pretty big here, but as one guy said, it is similar to Detroit - it is really from what Hood you are from. I am from the Northside which has become the most dangerous/violent part of Flint. Back in 2007 it used to be the Eastside was worst but now Northend is the worse.

I am a Blood. Now, not a true Blood, but, it is just like me and my friends own branch of Bloods. We all started wearing Red back when we were like 10 years old. Mostly wear Chicago Bulls stuff. Nowadays though I rock St. Louis Cardinals gear.

I am not really " Proud " of being in a gang, but, I have learned a lot from being in it, and it has molded me into the man that I am today. My dad was never around when I was a kid... he was too busy getting drunk. He never taught me how to fight or anything like that - I had to learn it on my own the hard way. I learned a lot from banging with other kids from diff hoods when we would run into them when we were riding our bikes around town. I have lots of friends though who are in diff gangs, even rival gangs. One of them is the Sunnyside gang out of Saginaw Michigan aka " Sagnasty ". They are huge on the Southside of Saginaw. They wear nothing but Yellow and beef with the Northside who wear all Blue. But, still, even though we aren't really supposed to be friends with Sunnys, we still are.

We have lots of gang in Flint - Bloods, Crips, GD's, Folk, La Rasa, ect.

My advice though is to not join a gang. It is a dangerous lifestyle and you can get shot over the color of your rags/clothing. I have a few friends doing prison time because they seriously assaulted someone over gang stuff.

Anyway, that's about all I have to say. Only join a gang if you absolutely have to. I really had no choice. My friends raised me, not my parents. Sighs... ;(

Due to the limitations of the color wheel, no more than 6 gangs can exist within a city at the same time.

Did you hold the gun sideways like they do in the movies?
I doubt that he did because if you hold the gun sideways you're most likely going to miss everything you're shooting at.

Haven't you seen the movie "Date Night"? Holding it sideways is a kill shot!

Sadly, you may have a case of being what I would say "turned out" on Bloods. If I stayed in the gang I would be considered an OYG, or original young gangster which is opposite to the crips OBG or original baby gangster. With even some of the guys I grew up with we look at how gang banging has become a trend like certain clothing lines. You see little wayne wearing red and saying "Suwoop" (a term or call to announce you represent bloods or Pirus) but has never grown up in the gang, he bought his way in.

It bothers me that being a blood or a crip is a trend rather than something kids should stay away from. Trust me if you guys knew me in the 80's you most likely would've grown to fear me instead of befriending me. Trust me my friend, leave it alone. You said you're not a "true blood" then leave it alone. As you can see I was in it for over ten years of my life. I have meaningless bullet wounds that could've killed me. I've been in gang fights. Been stabbed several times. Bullets hurt. Imagine something super hot being plunged in your lung and the searing burning sensation that pulsates over and over. Now imagine that feeling over your body.

Out here man, if you told a blood you weren't true, you would be considered "false flagging" and most likely get shot or beat up. The best thing to do is give up that gang stuff. If you want to shoot people, join the military and fight for your country like I did

Huh? You serious? I learned to shoot when I was 9. The one who taught me was a vet from Vietnam who was an affiliate of my old gang but never was active. He taught me and other "homeboys" how to shoot. Besides we dealt with big guns such as Mack 10's Mack 90 Ak's, M16 and even had grenades. Hence is why LA county/Compton had highest murder rate in the 90's.

Right, which would explain why he just shot at a lot of people.

Not really. If you're a skinny black kid shooting an AK-47 the recoil alone will throw your aim off. Besides, just because I shot at a lot of people doesn't mean I didn't hit them. I don't know if any died and just by me mentioning it here isn't the smartest thing either.

You seem smart enough not to incriminate yourself to me.

"flaggin" or even "flying colors" can be very dangerous.
One night, in Little Rock, my husband and I were washing clothes in the local laundry mat. Don't know how true" they were but there was a couple, man and woman, in there flashing blood. Right down to the car and the tats
We didn't think anything of it, cuz we keep to ourselves.
Then two guys came in wearing blue, with gang tats.
They came in to do their laundry and were soon followed by some MS-13. They were more covert in their flashing. Just a green wrist band and a few tats. They at one point started eyeing our pick-up(true redneck style) because it was red. I think they were making sure we weren't bloods, as well. Don't know what truly made them realize we weren't but when yosi looked to see what they were doing, the one threw up his hands in apology.
The tension in that small room was so high. The stare downs were impossible to miss. And I think, though can't be positive, that if the first couple were flying so loud, which Little Rock apparently has a thing about, things might not have been so tense.
When we were done, which was well before any of the other three groups, we left and didn't look back. In the morning, we found out that the cops got called out there shortly after we left due to shots fired.
This was before the Katrina refugees tried to take over LR.

Well yeah. But, I pray to God I badly missed nonetheless

I wouldn't worry about it. If you shoot like most gang members who are untrained and unable to aim, or even hold, firearms correctly, I'm sure you didn't come anywhere close to hitting somebody.

Did you witness many rapes in prison? I hear you gangbangers are always at it inside. No wonder they're riddled with HIV.
