devil worshipping a sign of mental illness?

Well then , would you care to participate in an informed discussion instead of just spouting off your assumptions?

I am

If I think people are semi nuts for belief in a mythical god charactor, what do you think I believe about on offshoot of a myth [in my opinion] ????

I understand its more of a belief in philosophy then a anti deity type figure. With that said you still cant label it because what people worship is so varied, its abstract

"if I already know allot of the material, why would I further my education on it "

If you knew the material, you wouldn't be saying things like:
I agree if that were the case.
Im just curious what would cause someone to have belief in something that could never have a good outcome???
A fictional dark path going nowhere is the way I see it.

I believe someone must have way to much time on their hands and be very misguided to head down a path like this? ...biblical hell and the devil are christian creations....

It just seems like some screws have got to be loose :areyoucra

The above quotes display a lack of even the most basic understanding of the Left Hand Path.

The problem here is that you are caught up in the whole "offshoot" paradigm which shows a residual Abrahamic bias in your thinking to begin with.

I understand following both sides RHP/LHP

I understand putting oneself on a pedestal

I still dont see a good outcome, why dont you show me instead of throwing out the LHP stereotypical responce???

I understand my reply was stereotypical of those who dont have a clue, fact is I understand the RHP so well I see no benifit of a LHP

in other words if think the RHP is full of it,,, what do you think I feel about the left??

That is the reason I tried to refer you somewhere that might educate you on the basics so that we have a frame of reference to talk about it. If your frame of reference is only the crap you've seen in the media and fundy christian propaganda, it will be very hard to have a productive conversation on the subject.

My reference so far has been in the people I see and know who follow the LHP.

Im looking at the outcome and the people that are drawn to it.

Its like a magnet for those that are different. This in itself isnt a bad thing. We are all different, I see no need for philosophy to tell me being different is OK

I read your link lol

look's like a desperate attempt to be different

The link is to a very long list of various different threads that attempt to explain all the various different ideas behind Satanism. You can't have read all of them, as it would take hours.
As to your "a desperate attempt to be different" statement, we aren't all the same. Sounds like you have a problem with people not conforming. Lots of people aren't conformists. It doesn't mean they are trying to be so different, it is just how they are. I suggest you look beyond the Marylin Manson wannabes, and sink your teeth into some of the real philosophy behind it all before dismissing it after a cursory skimming of a couple of titles in a thread.

on a side note you assume I ment LHP is the same as devil worshipping.

when I stated devil worshipping I ment what I said, it was not stereotypically bashing LHP allthough when in Rome

Often the most visible people aren't the best examples. Which would you say would be the best example of Christianity: the televangelist, or the very sincere next door neighbor?

I have know from the beginning your labeling my responce as stereotypical. its not.

look you want to be different go ahead, its not for me. I am no way shape or form a conformist.

True, but there are some fundamental core ideas that underlie them that make all these varied belief systems fall under the umbrella of LHP.

and like any religious belief you have whackos on every end of the spectrum.

LHP seems to be a magnet for those types. This does not make everyone who follows that philosophy a whacko.

I see anyone worshipping the devil or satan and I wonder how much medical help does said person really need, whole point of the thread really

Ah! very good point! That narrows the conversation considerably! What it amounts to, then, is what type of "Devil Worship" are you referring to? There are quite a few different types. Diane Vera's site would probably be the best place to learn about that. To truly understand, though, you can't approach a body opf information with such a dismissive bias. All you will see then are your own preconceptions.

Jack you know how I feel about the bible. satan or the devil to me is a biproduct of something I believe as mythological. even is said followers changed their belief around enough to identify themselves as unique, i would find in that itself bad lol

when any dogmatic belief becomes too rigid, it becomes a problem. Fundamentalist Christians, Muslims, Theistic Satanists, all are dangerous if they become too extremist.

It would be interesting to see what you make of Chaos Magick(but that's for another thread).
