Peter King (R-NY) introduces gun control legislation

Peter King, Leading Republican, To Introduce Strict Gun-Control Legislation

You know how it's already illegal to take a gun within 1000 feet of public schools? Essentially, this law would extend that criteria to knowingly bringing a firearm within 1000 feet of a government official.

Nobody can say they didn't see this coming. Like I said, when you shoot a congressperson, you take away ALL our freedoms. Oh, and I can't wait to hear the NRA's reaction to this bill.

Wow, the Republicans actually introduced this, and they're always accusing Democrats of gun control

Not apples and oranges. I am willing to deal with retaliation when it comes to protecting my loved ones.

Actually I feel sorry for anyone who invades my home. I have more training than the average responder.

Just saying if some ******* pulls out a gun when there's some type of robbery and he ends up shooting and killing people, I'll always shake my head.

Guns always tip the situation into violence and the results aren't always picturesque heroic endings.

Here is some more apples for you, I detest abortion. Does that mean I should impose my views on others?

You detest guns. Should you have the right to impose your views on my responsible gun ownership?

The Virginia Tech incident is the perfect example, should you fight back or line up to be shot like many students did?

What if no one stood up to the Arizona shooter? How many more folks would be dead?

Now where did I impose my views on everyone Reverend? I think you're preaching to the wrong crowd.

And remind me again what campus allows guns for "self-defence" or when someone used a gun to disable Loughner.

Well, the good news on Loughner was that the ammo clip was so large that he fumbled it trying to reload a new clip. The bad news is that the first clip didn't have to be reloaded until he got over 30 rounds off and hit 20 people. Unarmed people overpowered him in the end before he could reload. Clearly, he did not sufficiently practice his reloading technique. :(

Why do you keep repeating this blatantly false statement?

You said that guns do not create violent situations by saying Abibi's statement was false.

What else do they do? Work on your bipeps if you carry them in a handbag given they weigh a bit?

No never, i just like annoying a hell out of you.

I guess there are exceptions where its just a violent confrontation

If you find yourself in a position where your survival necessitates the use of force, then it was already a violent situation to begin with. But a gun can deter an attack without having to fire it.

Whilst i agree with whats said there it just sounds violent. Maybe us Australians are too sensitive when it comes to confrontations :p

Its sad that Americans (i've heard what you just said a lot from American friends) feel they need to be armed in fear life-threatening attacks.

My house in red. Where I live there is the rare bear, wild dogs, deer tearing up my yard, poisonous snakes there are more than people out there. Trespassers used to ride their ATVs through my front yard and tear it up, a gun, surveillance system and getting in some peoples faces has taken care of that and will take care of any more.

Rocky Mount crime rates and statistics - Neighborhood Scout is the city I live nearest to. You anti-gun folks need to live in that. Just lock you doors and hope your car is there in the morning. Hopy your spouse, children are not raped and molested in front of you because you are so anti-gun that you decided it was best no to have one.

Some of this is spreading into the rural county areas and I have no issue killing someone that wants and tries to hurt my family.

Do the numbers if you live in that hell hole you are at risk.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I have a problem with this proposed legislation for several reasons - the main one being that I don't think elected officials' lives are any more valuable than anyone else's life.

Typical though of a bureacratic heavy handed response and manipulation of a government entity. As Rohm Emanuel said, "You never want to let a serious crisis go to waste - it's an opportunity to do things you couldn't do before."

Good grief, I hate these ********. Such arrogance!

Oh, and I've used a handgun to protect myself and to deter a potentially very violent attack. It worked - and without firing a shot.

And if you had not used it would have most likely escalated? I would say if you pulled it and did not use it you needed it.

There again there are people here who like statistics and would love to throw another death or rape into the numbers.
