I was just thinking how sometimes science is a religious kinda experience. Anybody else think we should have a thread of cool kick-*** scientific stuff? I just found this one today:
Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity | Bad Astronomy | Discover Magazine
I remember the first time I seen this bad boy walking across upstate NY. This guy had a Cassegrain set-up, he's like "hey dude, check this out!" And I, just some wanderer on his way back to Massatuky, got to see the Galilean moons of ol' Jove for the first time. That's cool beans right there. :D

And to think one can get a set-up like this guy has... I'm jealous of Meow Mix, our resident up-and-coming cosmologist. ;)

“Our loyalties are to the species and to the planet. Our obligation to survive and flourish is owed not just to ourselves but also to that cosmos ancient and vast from which we spring. We are one species. We are star stuff harvesting star light.”
