What to Buy a 12 Year Old for Xmas??

Ok, so I'm in a complete jam, and my little one is NO help.

I have literally bought him one thing for Christmas so far, and his birthday is two days after, and I've bought him nothing for that!

Anyone have any ideas of what a 12 year old boy would like for Christmas? Hahaha

Need some information. How much do you want to spend and do you know any of his likes.

Umm well you could stick to the trinity of video games, sports and remote controlled gadgets! That usually covers it hehe

But yeah, depends what he's into i guess :)

Electronics?

That's the problem... I ALWAYS buy him electronics... there's nothing left for me to buy him. The one thing I have for him is the brand new 32gig Ipod touch.

I'd like to spend about another 300$-400$. I tend to spoil him.

I know all of his likes, the problem is, because I spoil him, he basically already has a lot of stuff that he would normally ask for for xmas. Wii, xbox 360, PS3, laptop, iPods, etc, he already has it all. He likes video games, computers and music, lol!

But I don't know what games to get him this year. Normally I just buy the new Rockband/Guitar Hero that comes out during the year, but he's not really into that anymore. I'm going to get him Black Ops and Red Dead Redemption, but other than that, I have NO clue!

Books.

My sister's kids grown whenever we drop off presents, but they're well-read kids.
My kids are used to it; they've been avid readers since kindergarten.

What about a pet? or is that no-go territory? (of course its a gift for life not just Christmas :) )

p.s. Black ops is quality, speaking as the suspiciously old '12 year old' that i am hehe :p

We have 5 cats and three dogs. He doesn't need anymore pets, hahaha

You could try just doing a mom and son thing. Not so much a surprise but a His Day of sorts. Ask him where he wants to eat and what he wants to do. Maybe go to the movies or go to laser tag or something?

It's kind of hit or miss. Some 12 year olds would think that lame, some would think it special... some would think it special but pretend it's lame because they're embarrassed.

My birthday is the 27th too! What about giving him some good books related to his interests?

My mom usually takes me out to eat and gets me an ice cream cake.

That's the plan for his birthday. I told him after the holiday insanity, I would take him shopping downtown to buy him his Doc boots, and new jeans he wants.

I know it's just one day away, but how 'bout a musical instrument? A guitar or a drum set maybe
