What do YOU seek??

I seek a place where we get along. I seek a place where we do not fear one another. I seek a place without ideals to endlessly debate over. I seek a place where shortage is inconceivable. I seek a place where differences are the exception and Oneness is the norm. I seek a place where there is no need for forgiveness. I seek these things for they are real.

What do YOU seek?

I'm not exactly sure what I am looking for. I'm fumbling around in a dimly lit room trying to find somewhere to sit, but someone didn't clean up. I can't remember if I forgot to clean up or if someone else forgot to or if the room is supposed to be untidy. So I start to organize some things, throw away some papers, keep others, and straighten up. The couch is right in front of me, but I'm not sure why I haven't sat down yet, or why I haven't chosen the recliner or the love seat instead.

Alternatively, I could go to another room. Or another house. Or a cabin.

Hmm... I like the metaphor (it is one right?) It seems to me that each of us live in only one house. However, we are constantly rearranging, adding on, tearing out, and fixing it. If this is an analogy and you are serious, then I would ask you this question. What is good about your house? What is solid? What really resonates with you? Hold on to it. What sounds iffy? What doesn't make sense? What really strikes you as unsound? Disregard it. It doesn't matter to you for now. Keep a collection of things you find valuable. And keep your eyes open all the time. Always be looking for any new trinkets or gems that you may discover. When you do, treasure them up. Hold them close. The trick is learning to sort the pearls from the gravel.

I think that one of the most valuable ways to add to your collection is by "stealing" from other people :). Whenever you encounter admirable people, pick their pockets. Find out what it is they have that makes them who they are. Incorporate it into yourself. I've met some people who really have it figured out. It's an inspiring, exhilarating, and rare experience. Just about everyone has something to add to your collection. Soon you will have a shining collection of treasure and knowledge. :)

A very interesting post Boethiah. I agree, that it is more metaphorical then literal. My suggestion is to turn out the light entirely for your eyes are deceiving you. What we see with our eyes is only physical and if what is seen physically brings about dis-ease, then try your other senses. Stating it is redundant of course, but your other senses, when trusted and developed will reveal what the eye can't see!

I seek to be one with myself. I seek to be devoid of self. I seek community. I seek love. I seek justice. I seek to possess that which others may seek, though I won't call it my own.

I had the choice of taking the religion I was given, the religion I was baptised with as an infant, but I obviously had not say in that and I wished for years I could apostatize and seek something else such as Scientology or something. Later I woke up to it that Scientology was even sillier IMHO so switched to atheism or at least agnosticism especially in the event of natural disasters. One in particular in Peru on May 1970 which just sounded so inconsistent with the all compassionate God I was taught. Eventually I switched to scientific pantheism which unlike like atheism draws attention to all I do believe in as opposed to one aspect I don't believe which is what atheism does. But I still can never be sure if scientific pantheism would be the end of it. Who knows sometime in the future I may get a bit restless and switch to something else.

Why?

What need do you seek to fill?

Do you think somebody else can fill it?

thougths on what all migth some day agree upon as what works for what gives true understanding and..
peace..happiness ... and hope for all...
hmm think i will go with
ifn there be some universal understanding that all can eventually come to
where in one sees how all things work together for the good for all....

and what might be required for such....

perhaps to be really honest about how it is one's own self and the ego
that blocks the true eternal light of understanding....

and what could some key components of such understanding be...
to count others as more significant than self..
that is the goal is not to seek self glory
but a glory that makes one ..one with the whole
by way of realizing how one can discern
one's proper part and responsibilities
to bring about cooperation that works for full self realization
and that reincarnation is what can give a better long term perspective on this...

u know stuff like this :)
