Assassination of Muslim Minds

Sajdah

Al-Aqsa Is In My Heart.
Among many reasons of the obvious decline of Muslims contribution to modern science comes the process of assassination of Muslim scientists, who were about to apply their scientific discoveries in their countries, as an important reason for such decline!
I did a quick search on the matter and found many prominent names were victims of assassination.. the newest incident occurred a few days ago with the assassination of two Iranian nuclear scientists. I found also a very long list of Iraqi academics, many Egyptian scientists like Samira Musa, Ali Mustafa Musharafa, Yahya El Mashad, and the Saudi Dr. Samia Abdur-Rahim Maimani (I didn't found much information about her in English)......The list goes on!

We always hear voices criticizing Muslims for not contributing to modern science, but such voices ignore the fact that their governments play a great role in that matter!!

yes, there is a genocide going on in Muslim nations if you ask me. here in Turkey some young scientists committed suicide one after another. now we know they got killed. thankfully one of them wrote his suicide note after he killed himself. Iraq is the greatest example among all so far. hundreds of scientists, professors, teachers got killed in the first years of invasion. they do not want Muslims to be educated. it is a must to enslave a nation after all. but, you know, we might need a greater 'leak' for these facts to come out

Exactly!
Imagine that it was the opposite, if Muslim governments have had intelligent agencies target their scientists and assassinate them, no doubt, the whole world would stand against them and they would be described as terrorists, along with many other labels, if they haven't been hunted down! It would be a different story!!!!

i am sincerely very thankful it is not other way around. it is a great shame, let alone being a crime :(

I have no doubt that some weapons scientists have been targeted by covert operations.

I doubt very much that scientists specialising in other areas have been targeted by any western organisations.

One problem could be, that the more highly educated population , and that includes scientists, might well become apostates. To that extent the more well known of them could be targeted by religious extremists such as Taliban sympathisers.

That there is something of a shortage of Muslim world renowned scientists, might be simply because they do not want to be come targets in this way. It is certainly nothing to to with lack of intelligence or ability.

Terry it's funny that you would consider that the scientific minds of the Muslim community were apostates. Also please remember that this is the Middle East, the Taliban's influence is not as prominent here as it is in South East Asia.

He died on Monday, January 15, 1950. Press reports at the time suggested that he was assassinated by one of the Israeli Mossad's operations against Arabic prominent scientists.[4]

Ali Moustafa Mosharafa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Then again there is also the more recent trial conviction of Aafia Siddiqui.

O.K. Sameera Moussa went off a cliff in 1952, we don't know why, but surely all of Islam could have come up with a single distinguished scientist in the 58 years since her death? Also, interestingly, she was a woman. Under Islam as practiced in part of the world, she never would have finished high school. This is much more likely to be contributing to the dearth of Muslim scientists than a single death in 1952. Ali Mosharafa died in 1950. Again, I don't know how he died, but if you haven't had any good scientists since 1950, I think you have a bigger problem than these deaths.

Don't you think the lousy educational systems in most Muslim countries might have more to do with the dearth of scientists than a couple of deaths in the middle of the last century?

I mean, c'mon, there are many times more Muslims than Jews in the world, and many times more Jewish than Muslim scientists.

What is with this penchant for blaming the rest of the world for Muslim problems? Maybe is Muslims started taking responsibility for their own problems, they might begin to solve them. Just a thought.

Perhaps its because theres not enough investment in academic Schools,it seems to me that all the investment in education is heavily linked to religious study like Al Azhar and as a University is not accessible to everyone.

Isn't it most likely their own governments? Everyone knows that once the population becomes educated you can no longer oppress them as easily.

Do you have sources for this Lava,i find it hard to believe there is some kind of conspiracy to wipe out Muslim Scientists, realistically though its just down to some Muslims not wanting other Muslims to be educated.

:areyoucra What are you saying?!!!
Just for your info; Al-Azhar university has medical, engineering, science, economics schools and other non-Islamic studies. It's a public university.

Yes i know it teaches Science etc but a University is the pinnacle of education and for a Child to reach it they need a good basic education.

In the UK every Child has the right to an education and it is an offence not to send your Child to School which obviously works.

Indeed, it is a shameful and dishonest way in confronting ones enemies!

No one can deny that, but you can not also deny the fact that Muslims didn't target jewish scientists although we can find the Mossad targeting ours, no one opposed their possession of nuclear power, the USA and other countries didn't invade them and killed their scientists, and academics, on the contrary, they are welcomed in the USA, and no one assassinates them if they preferred to serve their so called Jewish nation...... See, that's the difference!!

You haven't read my post very well, have you? I started saying among many other reasons, so I don't blame the rest of the world, I'm just providing a valid reason which doesn't get the enough concern it deserves while dealing with that matter!

Their own governments? Why would Tehran try to kill their own scientists in such a crucial situation? Or why Iraqis have killed their scholars and scientists after the occupation? Also the names I provided, were highly respected and honored by their governments.

But if we assumed that your point is correct, scientists can not do anything without getting approval from their governments, and if their governments didn't want it, they could simply disapprove, fire them from their positions, or obstructing them by any other mean (and such obstruction really occurred with some Egyptian scientists which led them to accept the American offers, and this is another reason not less important than assassination, IMO), but not by assassinating them!!

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
So let me be sure that I'm reading the intent of the OP right. Are you saying that the West is targeting Muslim scientists on a large scale, in order to eradicate them and oppress Muslim-dominated countries?

How does that impact medicine, biology, geology, chemistry, astronomy, physics or any other science?

a valid reason? That a woman scientist drove her car off a cliff in 1952? That makes no sense.

You entirely missed the point. As the population becomes better educated it becomes harder to control and people clamour for reforms and democracy. This threatens so many of these supposedly democratic governments and gives them a far better reason to target their own people than the west would ever have. If anything we would welcome an increase in education as it is often linked to less extremism and more balanced governments.

What a wonderfully unrealistic view on the matter.

Some things you should know about America. We tend to be very poor at keeping secrets. Well before Abu Ghraib we knew Americans was torturing prisoners. Many of us were very up set about our treatment of Muslims. Abu Ghraib was not a surprise for many of us Americans.

I have never heard anything about killing scientists. I am not naive enough to believe that we would not kill or have killed nuclear scientists in Iran. Yet even if it is true (the scientists are being killed) with what has come out on wikileaks in the last few weeks. It seems like other Arab Countries might be just as interested in killing these scientists. Much speculation and no proof.

Or why Iraqis have killed their scholars and scientists after the occupation? Also the names I provided, were highly respected and honored by their governments.

It should be no surprise that many scholars and scientists have died in Iraq. There has great suffering and death do to this war. 100,000s have died. Many due to Muslim on Muslim violence. This is Americas responsibility and I am sorry as an American citizen. With that said, I see know reason to believe America is targeting scholars and scientists in Iraq.

What I'm saying is, if you're really concerned about the abysmal state of Muslim science, and not just digging up old grievances, you would ask what is causing it: poor educational institutions at all levels, a low value on education and on science and rational thought in general in Muslim culture, repression of girls and refusal to educate them. These are the kinds of things that would really make a difference, not conspiracy theories about car accidents almost 60 years ago.

its the Mossad!!!!!!! if they can deploy a shark to ruin Egypts tourism trade i wouldnt put anything past them.

A possible connection between Israel and the shark attack that left a 70-year-old German woman dead in Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh on Sunday is not unfounded, according to South Sinai Governor Mohamed Abdel Fadil Shousha, quoted by Reuters on Monday.

Egypt: Sinai shark attacks could be Israeli plot
