Spiritual Practices to Lessen Anxiety and Stress?

Hey everyone. I am open to finding and learning about various spiritual practices from any religion that are helpful to lessen anxiety and stress. I know about meditation but I really don't know how to do it. I also know about prayer and I do pray sometimes but to be honest, it is only relaxing if I spend at least 20 minutes praying and I don't always have time for that. What are your suggestions?

I would suggest Zazen, but its a practice that requires time and discipline to notice the effects. You should find that stress and anxiety will lessen but not typically at first.

YouTube - Approaching Zazen (seated meditation)

If time is a factor, I would simply suggest music and/or simply burning incense or candles and contemplate.

Best wishes,

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
This isn't strictly religious, but it can have a distinctly religious flavor to it - YOGA. Wow, I love yoga. It is so empowering, and to me, the effects of one 1/2 hour session can last for two or three days. When I do yoga regularly, the sense of calm and control permeate my conscious and subconscious thought. And I just physically feel better as well.

If you haven't tried it, you should!

Fasting helps me forgo the trivialities of day to day life and focus on my faith and contemplate how to improve/supplement it. It can be done passively and at the end of the day you can reflect on how it went and what good deeds you preformed to supplement your fast. Plus breaking your fast with family/friends makes it that much more special.

when we hang onto unhappiness;than all we will have is unhappiness.
copeing skills are like diets. you may wish to lose the weight but not change the life style permenently. To help your stress levels & to relax you need poitive thinking , a way to end concerns , & a way to manage frustration. a pleasent day is normaly when we are pleased. When we are pleased we are satisfied. In the 3 things I mentioned are the steps you need to find a day with a smile & a relaxed posture. If you have a specific issue you may find the three step formula can be tailored to fit it easily. Any questions from my post please message me & I will be glad to clarify! I send you great comfort!
