aren't those women haters mostly raised by women themselves?

i am just curious to know. every once in awhile i think about this. in our culture children are raised by women. well, mostly. not just in our culture, i think, seems like mothers play greater role raising child everywhere. so how could it be? how could those women haters were educated by women? what do mothers do to their kids bad enough to make them hate women? and why do they do that? is this some kind of chain reaction? like, husband treats wife badly, wife turns to kid and takes her revenge on him...etc. i want to understand it. what's your opinion?

In relation to the family unit, my best guess is the behavour is influenced from an abusive Father. Especially if the child is Male, his role-model is his Father, so I think it would "grow" from that.

If the society as a whole is also mysogynistic, then the attitude will be further re-inforced since IMO society is what shapes us.

hmm .. makes no sense to me. why would a boy hate women if he had abusive father and a loving mother? as a result, if he wanted to become woman and change sex or something i would get that logic. or are you saying he would accept behaviour of his father as manhood?

My impression is that a son take in a lot of his attitude from his father. They can also be indoctrinated. For instance, growing up in the particular religious cult of my family I saw a number of men develop a horrible attitude toward women, one that I doubt they had prior to joining the religion. For instance, when I was born, some men told my father they were sorry for his sake and hopefully he would have a son sometime soon.

I think it depends on the individual, how they are affected and the situation/context of their upbringing. Some people will come out of the experience feeling protective of women and others will come out having learned that behaviour, it being ingrained as something normal.

Well I'm guessing that since children generally arn't mature enough to often be aware of the consequences of their actions, a young boy who was raised in a family with an abusive Father would probably see the behavour as normal. So as he grew up he would probably be desensitized the the suffering of his Mother, 'cause he;s used to it.

That's just my guess though

Did you ever watch The Dying Rooms? It discussed the cultural attitudes in rural China in relation to Women and Girls, and whenever a Girl was born a typical name was (roughly translated as) "Next bring a Boy", and how the girls were neglected in state orphinages. Whenever a Boy was born the family would have a party and celebrate with firecrackers.

The documentary is like 15 years old though, but still it was an eye-opener.

I haven't seen that but I am familiar with China's attitude. I can understand why this would become cultural due to social, geographical and economic factors.

It could be that when a husband threats his wife with contempt, the son developes contempt against his mother too, just because she does not defend herself.
He may think that someone not defending against maltreatment deserves what she gets.

I see a few possible factors -
  • narcisstic disposition of the child who never grows out of it
  • mothers who act as apologetics for the mistreatment toward them
  • misogynist standards in familial, social, religious, and cultural norms
Or maybe they just haven't been whupped by the right woman.

Well, I don't have any personal experience with this matter other than from talking to some people that seem to hate women, but the only thing I can be sure about here is that there are certainly a variety of reasons for what causes it since there are a variety of people that experience it.

I think a major reason is insecurity. The person feels insecure for any number of reasons and wishes to feel better or more powerful by basically being a bully. I haven't seen many wise, intelligent, responsible, happy, confident men that also hate women...
