Wasn't mary middle eastern? These statues look like Olivia DeHaviland in Ivanhoe. And why is it so important that Mary be physically beautiful. Isn't it entirely possible she looked like this?

Those statues are based on what she looks like now, not what she looked like on earth.
Mary has a perfect resurrected body. She is beautiful now because she has a perfect immortal resurrected body.

The Lord has not limited himself to creating beauty in just one race or color.

Pointing out modern Israeli models is fruitless as the majority of Israeli people moved to Israel in the 1940's and and 50's. Influenced by hundreds of years of European and Eurasian mixing (however limited).
The obvious Westernization of figures of Jesus and Mary, and the same for visions of the two shows a Western bias in Christianity and the LDS.

I recently said something like ths to FFH but he dismissed it....saying it wasn't possible for "satan" to use Jesus and have people come to Jesus by way of satan. My argument was similar to yours. How about satan, assuming ones believe in him. I'm not a believer in any of this, making it seem like he is leading people to Jesus all the while bring everyone to multiple denominations centered around the Jesus figure and not around the "true teachings" of him.
There own bible warns against this....
