The International Churches of Christ...

AKA "The Boston Movement".

I thought they were pretty much "gone", but apparently Kip is calling out the remnant.

Anyone here a part of them now or were a part of them? Let's talk!

I got invited to one before converting to Catholicism. I went a couple times but they parterned me up with someone and I found that a bit creepy so I stopped going. That was one of the only times I stopped going somewhere for non-theological reasons.

You weren't "partnered" with the one who invited you? Was your inviter female?

I was a part of them for about 3 months and left because of scriptural differences. I have seen quite a bit of bitterness over their methods.

A very big fella that was incredibly nice. My inviter was a smaller guy that I met at barnes and nobles.

I do remember a rather excited speaker. He seemed more of a motivational speaker then anything else. Although I did leave Protestantism (I know you don't consider yourself as one :bounce ) all together for theological reasons. As a matter of fact my last stop before leaving was talking to a Church of Christ pastor who I had known for some time. I have such a high view of him because of his straight foward biblical interpretations and is extremely bright. We still talk but he knows where I stand. :)

Peace in Christ

P.S. Church of Christ is probably the only place I would be part if not Eastern Orthodox. :jam:

Psssst... we hardly ever capitalize "church" in churches of Christ except in signage. It's not capitalized in scripture. :D

You are getting confused again. The International Churches of Christ are a splinter group of the churches of Christ. The former answer to one super church or an "apostle" and the latter are independent of each other. The former practice a rather vile form of "discipleship" while the latter try to stick more to the Biblical concept of that. I, and many others, consider the ICOC a cult.
